Each time the priestly government edited the Bible, they left parts of the original story there. The "crafty beast" had already fallen before Adam and Eve arrived. Cain feared people out in the world away from his tribe, God agreed with him and put a mark on him. Cain and Able were tending "flocks" and "fields". They made contributions to a religious order. The world was populated long before Adam and Eve arrived, that's why we dig up their bones all over the world. And that's why Biblical apologist have to make so many contorted excuses for the errors.

God allowed Satan to fool the entire world. He granted the same freedom of will for the Hebrew priest to concoct the "chosen people" story. In the same way Jesus allowed the same people to reject his message and kill his human body. God allows all sorts of religions and false teachings. The theory that God used men to write a perfect book isn't even supported by the book they wrote.
There is no scripture before Moses that survives today.
It's better to have faith in God and treat the Bible books for what they are, human.

I don't consider my self great, you must have a complex. Defending the shaky story of Genesis has lead you to be oversensitive and defensive. If you ever do open your hard heart and realize the truth, don't get mad at God! He NEVER claimed to write the discredited Jews self important story.
Genesis is largely a man made myth that is unsupported by the facts revealed in the earth. The Jews lost sight of their calling. Being hauled off into captivity once again was too much for them to take! The priest class went to the other extreme and converted secular history into an exaggerated fiction. The same human pride that lead them to reject Jesus lead them to overstate their importance and segregate from the world.
