Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Philippians 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

What is this mind that is in Christ Jesus?

What did he think? What were the thoughts that Christ Jesus thought?

Did he think "I am God" or did he think "I am the son of God" He stated that he is the son of God in John 10.

If he thought "I am God" and you are to let this mind be in you which is in Christ Jesus, then you need to think, "I am God" as well.

Or was Jesus the son of God as he stated in John 10:36

"Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?"

which are you going to think?

a. I am God

b. I am the son of God

Are you God?

or are you a son of God I John 3:1-2

What was in the mind of Christ?

What are you supposed to think?

In your opinion.

However, all believers have Christ in them. See Colossians 1:27 "Christ in you"

How do you think anyone can fulfill John 14:12 unless Colossians 1:27 is true?

You did compare Christ to everyone else who has been given his Spirit.

So what?

Where does scripture say that is blasphemy?

It doesn't

Are we not to follow his example of love and believing and obedience to our heavenly Father?

Matthew 11:28-30

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

We are to take his yoke upon us. We must therefore be capable of handling his yoke, even as he is capable of handling it.

So what is your problem?

You act as if Jesus is just some other person given the Holy Spirit like the others.

The better question: Is He exercising all power today?
So then.
Let's start with my simple question.
Why was he GIVEN all power and authority?
I will rephrase and clarify it.

Why would he need to GIVEN any power and authority?

Because he is a human being that was had the spirit set upon him like prophets before him.

Remember when John baptized him? That is when Jesus Christ received the spirit upon him.

Why would he need to GIVEN any power and authority?
Because he emptied himself of that power and authority by becoming a man.

He needed it all back for his ministry.

Well, if this thread was about your opinion of what are better questions, then this could be a really lively discussion about that.

I expect that my questions should inspire very pertinent, lively scriptural discussions that require people to put on the mind of Christ to be able to participate in a meaningful way.

Are you up for that?

So, if we stick to the subject, and the question that was posed, why was Jesus given all power and authority?

Or to clarify? Why was Jesus GIVEN all power and authority?

because He is God, and yes, He always has all power

Is he God?

Scripture does not say he is "God the Son" but it does say that he is the son of God.

When a child is born and a son is given, do children give to the parents or do the parents give to the children?

If he is God and God has all power and authority, then why would Jesus need to given it? Would he not already have it?

You say he always had it, then why would he have to be given it?

For that matter, who gave it to him?

If a friend of yours gave you all the cash in his wallet, would that cash be in his possession or in your possession. The giver would no longer have any cash in his wallet any more. He might have a lot more cash somewhere else, but he would no longer have any in his wallet.

Why would you need that cash if you "always has all" cash?

Why would he need to be GIVEN all power and authority?

He was given all power and authority because he is God.

If he is God, why would he need to given all power and authority?

Unless there is a greater God than he who has more power and authority and has some to spare to give to him.

Which option do you prefer?

Which option can you substantiate with scripture?

Who gave Jesus all power and authority? Why?

Where does it say that He became a man?

Not John 1:14, John 1:14 does not say "God became a man" it says "the word became flesh"

What is "the word"?

Word is logos, logos means message, the message became flesh.

I would rather see a sermon than hear one. You ever read that poem?

He needed it all back for his ministry.

What does that verse say that he emptied himself of?

Maybe the context tells us?

Philippians 2

If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

One theme running through the context is what we, including Jesus Christ think

Did Jesus puff himself up? Should we?

Did Jesus come to be ministered to or to minister? Should we come to be ministered to or to minister?

Did Jesus exalt himself being full of pride or humble himself?

Should we exalt ourselves being full of pride or humble ourselves?

Did Jesus Christ choose to lord it over people or to serve?

Should we choose to lord it over people or to serve?
