Did you miss post #2?

Where doser says:
"unless they were asking for it like Josephine"

And then gives the Josephine scenario which includes:

You deserved to get beaten and raped.
You chose to get beaten and raped.

and those two statements - what were they in response to?

were they in response to Josephine saying:

"I know I was a damn fool.
I know I brought this on me.
I should have listened to you and never put myself in that position." ?

nope

Josephine was being a whiny liberal who wanted to blame everybody else for her predicament except herself

when it was clear that her foolish actions were directly responsible for the consequences

and she deserved to get smacked upside the head by her friend

Of the 11 people so far that have posted in this thread, the ONLY one that says ....
she asked for it
she deserved it
she chose it
.... is doser. Josephine's friend in the scenario

:thumb:

Your scenario of josefiend is not compatible....

....to anything else

it's being offered to demonstrate a scenario where a victim is clearly responsible for precipitating an attack on her

A person acting foolishly does not mean it is okay for you to turn them into a victim. However they act is not justification for you acting poorly.

Nothing deserving of rape.

That is what a decent person would do.

An indecent person would say:
Unless they were asking for it.
You deserved to get beaten and raped.
You chose to get beaten and raped.
(All said in your spoiler.)

A decent person would do everything in their power to prevent the same thing from happening again. Hugs and Barbara Streisand emotionalism won't prevent another rape.

A person waving a $100 bill around on the street is acting foolish. You taking that $100 from them makes you guilty of theft. It doesn't matter that the person was acting foolish, you are guilty of stealing their cash.

If the person waving the cash is my friend and I tell them to stop and they don't, guess what; you are still guilty of theft.

The same principle applies to your rape scenario. Regardless of how the woman was acting, you are guilty of rape for taking advantage of her. The crime of rape is worse because I can replace cash. Nobody can replace what is taken from a woman when a man forces himself upon her.

Its her prerogative. He is a misogynist for even mentioning it.

A decent person would not blame the victim of a crime.

Did anybody say it would?
Anybody?
Anybody at all?

Maybe you are letting your emotional rants cloud the issue.

now, back to your friend who is waving a $100 bill around on the street, ignoring your advice to stop doing that or it's going to get stolen from him

when it gets stolen from him and he whines about how unfair life is, do you go up to him and say "Oh, you poor poor thing! I'm so sorry about what happened to you! You never deserved to have that $100 bill stolen from you!"

or, do you smack him on the back of the head and say "Serves you right moron - maybe next time you'll listen to me and not act like such a damn fool"?

I'm not so sure very many men have ever felt violated sexually. I remember the slight feeling of violation after a prostate exam, which doesn't even compare to actual rape. Women get that "violated" feeling much much worse in cases of rape.

How many men here have ever felt violated ?

The stigma against men who have been raped/harassed is insurmountable at the moment. It isn't surprising we don't hear much about it.

It's just not in a straight man's nature to feel violated by a woman. Where a woman might feel uncomfortable if a stranger grabs her butt, a guy just feels confident after a woman grabs his.

We're just wired differently

True ... though I would still have compassion for a man that has been violated in such a way. It can happen under certain conditions.

Unfortunately, thanks to the good old stigmatization crowd, men are less likely to report such violations.

Seriously though, can you blame them? They would be harassed, accused of being a sissy, etc.

I use to speak out more harshly in regards to women who refuse to testify against their rapists ... however, these threads have certainly shed some light on why they wouldn't want to put themselves in such a position.

I can't blame them. Could you imagine if during your trial someone like Doser was on the jury?
