Well said!Compassion, love and help to heal. I think the most important thing for accomplishing that, is making someone feel protected. It's important to give a victim an outlet where they aren't judged or humiliated.

you go right ahead and tell Josephine she did nothing wrong
and next week, plan on visiting her in the hospital again when she does the same thing again
Correct! :thumb:She did not do anything she deserved to raped for. No woman ever deserves to be raped.

You have to give me access to your vast collection of emotes. :chuckle:
How should they be treated?
With compassion or blame?
Well said!
Cheers, mate! :cheers:Off topic but from one Q to another, :e4e: .

A victim who is blamed for violence against him/her will likely never heal.
If you wish to be available to any victim of any awful crime or accident, the goal is to be therapeutic. That means you use every means at your disposal to nurture body, mind and spirit.
My job in the operating room had limited contact with my patients awake. But those few preoperative minutes were an opportunity to reassure them that they were in a safe place and in good hands. That we would take good care of them. Comfortable words with a smile and a gentle touch would ease the tension and fear of a suffering soul.
I believe in loving kindness as one of God's gifts to each of us to employ as needed!
If your child comes in with a skinned knee you calm them down and take care of their wounds.
Placing blame has no place in a healing environment.

why coddle an assault victim if they brought it on themselves?
Right on, sister! If you wish to be available to any victim of any awful crime or accident, the goal is to be therapeutic. That means you use every means at your disposal to nurture body, mind and spirit.

It would certainly be refreshing if the responses in this thread were limited to the spirit the thread was created for:
Genuine concern for rape victims and pro-active suggestions that would allow them to heal.

gee, i thought the thread was created to ask a question
How should they be treated?
With compassion or blame?
you keep telling her that
and then make sure you leave time next Saturday to visit her in the hospital when it happens again
