Davis was jailed for contempt of court.

Easy fix: Stop taking taxpayer money for a job she won't do and step down - or do her job.

Do you think she should be jailed under force to act against her conscience?
Nah, personally a professional ultimatum would have been fine. "Due to changes in the law, you are required to do additional duties. If you feel this is in conflict with your personal views, you have X days until your position will be terminated due to legal blah blah blah."

Or something like that.

There is a law about her religious beliefs too, the law is in conflict here.

It needs to be resolved. The supreme court is a coward for refusing to hear this that they created.

Using the power of office to enforce ones own religious beliefs is a violation of the 1st amendment.
That notwithstanding, she is quite free to believe whatever she chooses. Just not empowered to use the position of elected office to impose those beliefs on others.

Shes not enforcing them on other, she is not making them convert. She has also refused untill this is resolved to issue any to anyone even straight. There is established law already that a person cannot be compelled to act against their moral conscience.

See the law. They should fire her, and let her sue them for not accommodating her beliefs -not force her.

Its a travesty that she is in jail for this. You would all be crying bloody murder if you were thrown in jail for not acting against your conscience.

If she was a pastor or some sort of religious figure then I'd say she has a right to refuse.
However she works for the govt, and has to follow the laws of said govt

She has a constitutional right to freedom of religion and reasonable accommodation for such, see the constitution and the law from EEOC on reasonable accommodation (already posted, look back) She cannot be compelled to act against her religion.

You guys are acting as if she is some kind of martyr, which is ridiculous. No one is forcing her to work for an institutions that does something she disagrees with. She has no real principles, she wants to have her cake and eat it too. She wants their money, but refuse to do the job she is assigned to do. Not to mention that she is not exactly a beacon of the sanctity of marriage (as if that is a factor in marriage in a purely secular form anyway) herself, last time I checked she has married 4 times, 3 divorces.

Let me rephrase the last thing I wrote as a question:

Would you support her if she was a conservative Muslim who refused to issue a marriage certificate to a non-Muslim man and a Muslim woman?

If not, you are simply a hypocrite. The US is not a Christian theocracy, appealing to church laws or biblical principles is irrelevant. The only thing that matters for a person who wants to earn their living off of a government institution is to carry it out according to the laws of the secular government.

She's an elected official not a regular employee.
