Jesus clearly states "Where two or more gather, I am there"
The Catholic Church clearly states "Where two or more gather, there must be us or else you're a heretic"

Not to say that it's an interesting way to put it, but Jesus' statement was in regards to judicial proceedings and not just general gatherings.
