Prove That Sunday Is The Christian Sabbath

Thank you Trevor.

Good good.

But, if I may, correct their assertions EVERY time they say “The Sabbath WAS a shadow of things to come.”

Col 2: 17 Paul clearly uses present tense...the Sabbaths “which ARE a shadow of things to come” still binding...

Again in Heb 10:1 “For the law, HAVING a shadow of the good things to come”

Still binding...

Of course Christians readily insist 9 of the 10 commandments remain binding...have no problems with them written on their minds and hearts...even boldly claim they live in accordance to WWJD!

but when you bring up “He would never have had Sunday Ham dinners” then its Awwww HEELLLLL NOOOOO...and it all falls apart...ALL OF IT...abolished destroyed replaced by Jesus alone now...faith alone...no need for Law etc etc etc...OLD VS NEW and yada yada yada...

A gift for man...rejected...and some sinners also reject women...also made for man...

What moral authority does mankind have to change God's Law?

There isnt one...but scriptures have warning against one who would change both times and laws...antichrist...

That they claim they were given authority to do so was with the keys to the kingdom given to Peter...so whatever they bind or loose will be bound or loosened...

So having the key they claim its been given to them to change the teachings...they have the key right?

I am fond of saying...”But if you change the key in any way it will no longer fit the lock it is intended for”

So they have made changes throughout the church age...and yet even now there brews a civil war of sorts as V2 has proven to be TOO MUCH change...and Sedevacantism (seat of Peter is empty) argue that since V2 there have only been anti popes...false popes is NOT catholic...traditionalist are in favor or returning to the time before the changes of V2...

Alas, the traditions of man...saturn eats his own...

Interesting stuff I highly recommend to research...

By wise as serpents...especially if they are fighting...lol

Greetings again TheThirdAngel144,
The problem I have with this stance, is that every other precept of the 10 Commandments is valid, and generally Christians find a need for a day of (1) Rest from worldly pursuits, and sometimes physical rest (2) Spiritual practices worshipping God (3) Fellowship with like-minded believers. All these principle are embodied in the Sabbath, and there is even a "mock Sabbath", or a Sabbath look-a-like. Do you disagree with these assertions, and could you please tell me why?
I do not disagree with your assertions as there is a lot of validity in what you say. But my belief is that we are not under the Law of Moses, as this is the First or Old Covenant confirmed by the blood of animals, summarised or in a sense epitomised in the 10 Commandments. Romans 7:7-12 indicates the difficulty that a Law Keeper, especially a sincere Jew had in trying to keep the 10th Commandment.

The life in Christ is set in contrast with the struggle of Romans 7 in Romans 8:1-3. Thus I personally consider myself and others who voluntarily espouse this out of a sincere and affectionate heart, to be under the New Covenant, confirmed in the crucifixion, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Many of the principles, shadows, types and many other aspects find their fulfilment, fullness and more substantial teaching in Christ, as revealed in this New Covenant. I consider Matthew 11:25-30 and Hebrews 3 and 4 as evidence of this. Items 1-3 in your list of assertions are more than adequately covered under the New Covenant, and in practical terms much more so. I like some of the indications in the Psalms that the various psalmists had morning and evening prayers, and Daniel prayed three times in the day. Psalm 145:1-3 captures this in David’s superlative Psalm of Praise, and like Psalm 40:6-8 outshines the Law by individuals who were under the basic framework of the Law.

Kind regards
Trevor

Prove that:

1) God rested on the first day of the week
2) God blessed the first day of the week
3) God sanctified (or set apart for a holy use)
4) God wrote the 1st day of the week in His law

If there is a Shabbat hour in each and every day then the Shabbat is perpetual: for since the earth spins upon an axis, thus we have the time-zones, and thus at any given time there is a Shabbat hour in progress somewhere upon the earth. When one Shabbat hour is complete: the Shabbat hour commences in the next time zone. :)

What do those who say “revealed in the New Testament” mean? So far I have only seen a misuse and false application to Paul’s writings...for example those shadows alleged to have been fufilled are clearly written as still binding...in present tense...shadows ARE not were pointing to the good things to come...

What is revealed in the New Testament must first be taught by the testator PRIOR to His death...in other words His ministry WHILE ALIVE was His “last will and Testament”...He signed the new covenant with His blood and sealed it with His death...Heb 9...the testator must die and then NO CHANGES allowed thereafter...

The FIRST full day in the New Testament age was a Sabbath He rested (in the tomb)...just as it was in Edenic covenant the first full day with man was a Sabbath...the Sabbath a sign maintained throughout covenants...https://en.m.wikibooks.org/wiki/Heb...he_Covenants/Covenants:The_Universal_Covenant

In the New Testament age His followers too hurried to keep the Sabbath its first full day...as it was the commandment...STILL Luke 26:53...and AFTER the Sabbath...on the first day day of the week...the tomb was discovered empty...

Therefore HOW HE LIVED was the terms of this new covenant...which is now UNABLE to change after the death of the testator...

Not a peep about changes or it being ended or abolished/fulfilled...in fact it was the the ONLY commandment actually instructed to pray that it be kept in the two periods of time still expected to occur in the future...winter and Sabbaths...

Is why Paul continued to keep Sabbath Peter even kosher...the Acts 15 council concluded with James intending the crowding gentiles to hear Moses taught in every city...every Sabbath...

The changes to worship on Sunday came AFTER the death of the testator...NOT ALLOWED

Besides, The Sabbath was not given to the Gentiles as Law.

LOL...in FACT it was the ONLY Law of the 10 SPECIFICALLY given to the foreigner, stranger, non native saved with Israel from Egypt...

He did not lie when He said the Sabbath was made for MAN...not just jews...

Sabbath was instituted long before there were Jews...about the time Marriage was instituted (one day after)...do you also claim marriage is jewish? Only for the jew?

If you believe...you are Israel, grafted in, to replace the Jews which are the cut off branches...adopted in you are a full citizen of Israel...behave like it...His people have a sign...Heb 4:9 is clear

I do not hold Sunday as a day of worship. We should worship God every day after the example of Jesus. We are to find the true Sabbath by resting in Him Matthew 11:25-30, Hebrews 3 and 4.

We have no evidence in the Bible of "eighth day", or non-days in the Scriptures. A 7 day weekly cycle is all we are ever given.

What I am pointing out is that the day before 1st Jan 45BC was calculated by the Roman Ancient 8 day week calendar ,which was never used by the Israelites, nor did they use the Julian calendar, not until after 70AD by the Jews who were forced to use it, as they lived in the rest of the Roman empire. Only God's calendar is described in the Bible, which is a lunar-solar calendar that is completely different to the Julian and Gregorian calendars and that the Sabbath was never calculated using these man made calendars: Please take a look: http://theologyonline.com/showthread.php?127270-When-is-the-Sabbath&highlight=

Greetings again clefty, For example, the sin, trespass, burnt and peace offerings using animals under the Law are fulfilled in the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus.
and yet the believers were gathered together to celebrate Pentecost not knowing it would be the “birthday of the church”. Paul celebrated the festivals alongside with myriads of other believing Jews zealous for the Law. Their calendar of festivals remained and even gentiles contributed first fruit offerings collected by Paul for those in Jerusalem. Paul hurried to keep the festival in Jerusalem. Taught Sabbath to Sabbath and instructed gentiles to return to hear more NOT the next day or every day but the next week Sabbath.

I do not hold Sunday as a day of worship.
that is only part of it...the commandment is clear...Work six days rest the seventh which is set aside HIS day sanctified and made Holy by Him...He gave it as a sign to His people...you His people?

we are not to make it holy we are to KEEP it Holy...remember?

We should worship God every day after the example of Jesus.
Yahushua did worship everyday but also kept Sabbath and taught the same. Seven Sabbaths he chose to provoke the pharisees by healing NON EMERGRNCY cases. He could have waited another day but wanted to provoke the pharisees to teach on the Sabbath and to steal it back from them.

We are to find the true Sabbath by resting in Him Matthew 11:25-30, Hebrews 3 and 4.
poor use of the sword there...inserting Sabbath breaking as part of the secret revealed...perhaps we are made free to kill and steal and lie now too...I could be rich in no time and rest from having to work...lol...there is no rest for the wicked includes breaking number 4 on His top ten...

That there does however remain a sabbatismos for His people is quite clear in Hebrews 4:9 the author forgoing greek words for rest but coining a Hebrew greek hybrid mashup word that the Hebrew readers of Hebrews would immediately and specifically understand to mean as weekly sabbath keeping remains still binding...enter it JUST AS Yah entered it after six days of work first...

Besides, The Sabbath was not given to the Gentiles as Law.

Who is a Jew or the nation Israel.
This is what God has spoken through His prophets.

Genesis 17:3

Abram fell facedown, and God said to him, 4. "As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations. 5. No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. 6. I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you. 7. I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you.

Genesis 35:11
And God said to him, "I am God Almighty; be fruitful and increase in number. A nation and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will come from your body.

Exodus 12:37
The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Succoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children. 38. Many other people went up with them, as well as large droves of livestock, both flocks and herds.

Leviticus 19:34
The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

Leviticus 24:22
You are to have the same law for the alien and the native-born. I am the LORD your God.

Numbers 15:15
The community is to have the same rules for you and for the alien living among you; this is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. You and the alien shall be the same before the LORD :

Joshua 8:33
All Israel, aliens and citizens alike, with their elders, officials and judges, were standing on both sides of the ark of the covenant of the LORD, facing those who carried it—the priests, who were Levites. Half of the people stood in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, as Moses the servant of the LORD had formerly commanded when he gave instructions to bless the people of Israel.

Esther 8:17
In every province and in every city, wherever the edict of the king went, there was joy and gladness among the Jews, with feasting and celebrating. And many people of other nationalities became Jews because fear of the Jews had seized them.

The word "Jew" was a nickname assigned by the Babylonians to anyone who either lived in or came from the area of Judea.

Psalm 2:4
The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. 5. Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, 6. "I have installed my King
on Zion, my holy hill." 7. I will proclaim the decree of the LORD : He said to me, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father. 8. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.

Psalm 82:8
Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are your inheritance.

Psalm 111:6
He has shown his people the power of his works, giving them the lands of other nations.

Isaiah 9:3
You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as men rejoice when dividing the plunder.

Isaiah 14:1
The LORD will have compassion on Jacob; once again he will choose Israel and will settle them in their own land. Aliens will join them and unite with the house of Jacob.

Isaiah 26:15

you have extended all the borders of the land.

Isaiah 56:3
Let no foreigner who has bound himself to the LORD say, "The LORD will surely exclude me from his people."- 6. And foreigners who bind themselves to the LORD to serve him, to love the name of the LORD, and to worship him, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it
and who hold fast to my covenant-
7. these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations."
8. The Sovereign LORD declares— he who gathers the exiles of Israel: "I will gather still others to them besides those already gathered."

Ezekiel 47
21. "You are to distribute this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel. 22. You are to allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the aliens who have settled among you and who have children. You are to consider them as native-born Israelites; along with you they are to be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel. 23. In whatever tribe the alien settles, there you are to give him his inheritance," declares the Sovereign LORD.

Zechariah 2:10
"Shout and be glad, O Daughter of Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you," declares the LORD. 11. "Many nations will be joined with the LORD in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you. 12. The LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem. 13. Be still before the LORD, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling."

Matthew 12:21
In his name the nations will put their hope."

The Parable of the Tenants
Luke 20
9. He went on to tell the people this parable: "A man planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time. 10. At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants so they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed. 11. He sent another servant, but that one also they beat and treated shamefully and sent away empty-handed. 12. He sent still a third, and they wounded him and threw him out.
13. "Then the owner of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do? I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him.' 14. "But when the tenants saw him, they talked the matter over. 'This is the heir,' they said. 'Let's kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.' 15. So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. "What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them? 16. He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others." When the people heard this, they said, "May this never be!" 17. Jesus looked directly at them and asked, "Then what is the meaning of that which is written:

" 'The stone the builders rejected
has become the capstone? 18. Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, and he on whom it falls will be crushed."

19. The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. But they were afraid of the people.

Acts 3:25
And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, 'Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.'

Romans 2:28
For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29. But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Romans 3:29
Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too,

Romans 4:13
It was not through law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith. 14. For if those who live by law are heirs, faith has no value and the promise is worthless, 15. because law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.
16. Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all. 17. As it is written: "I have made you a father of many nations." He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.

Romans 4:18
Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, "So shall your offspring be."

Romans 8:17
Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Romans 9:6
It is not as though God's word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. 7. Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham's children. On the contrary, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned." 8. In other words, it is not the natural children who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring.

This topic shouldn't be this hard.

God gave the seventh day for rest, at the time of Moses.

God gave the first day for assembly, at the time of the apostles.

Why does everyone have the two confused? The Sabbatarian wants to assemble on the rest day, and vice versa. Everyone else has disregarded the Sabbath as being a thing, and insists that Sunday is for both rest and assembly, as if made any sense that the two could be combined.

When the Gentiles crowding the synagogues on Sabbaths wished to hear more about the One resurrected Paul did not have them come back the the next day the “New day of assembly” he instructed them to come back and assemble the next Sabbath...

The next Sabbath almost the entire city was there...this is Antioch

85 Sabbaths are recorded as kept by the early church in scripture...

http://www.eliyah.com/85times.html

First fruits and Pentecost are both first day of the week times to assemble institute by Yah...but not every first day of the week...

Matt 24:20 records Yahushua intending two periods of time still applying to the believers in the new covenant age...winter time and the Sabbath day...

I notice that you continue to use this example from Acts 13, but Paul was preaching to the Jews and Gentile proselytes in the synagogue on the first Sabbath. Other Gentiles also came to hear on the second Sabbath. Paul was preaching the gospel centred in Jesus. He was not teaching the Gentiles the need to worship God on the Sabbath.
Acts 13:39 (KJV): And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

all contrary to your claim that “God gave the first day for assembly at the time of the apostles”...Paul did not have them come back the next day but the next week Sabbath...

Paul was preaching the gospel centred in Jesus. He was not teaching the Gentiles the need to worship God on the Sabbath.
right...they didnt need to be taught that...they already wanted to...to hear of One risen and forgiving of sins...a Jew killed by Rome...and so they had to understand why how and what it meant for them...so they crowded Sabbath after Sabbath never thinking to meet another day...certainly not recorded and that would be a big deal...changing the Law of the temple...teaching One changed it...but not a peep...as it was false witness still is

Acts 13:39 (KJV): And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
yup Gentiles fell all over themselves amazed it was now for them...no wonder they crowded synagogues on Sabbaths to hear more...Jews knew though it had ALWAYS been faith first...and for gentiles too...but were jealous...stirred up the women to kick them out...
