If you own a television network, you are free to conduct whatever censorship you want.

:duh: Did I say the television network didn't have the right? No, I did not. I said they are politically correct, and I will no longer be a viewer of their station.

There is no censorship by the government re: Dukes of Hazzard.

Feel free to show where I stated there was ...

And The Dukes of Hazzard is on TV.com

There's no censorship.

If a network doesn't want to show the Dukes of Hazzard or Birth of a Nation, it's allowed not to.

What's next, reruns of 'Friends' being taken off air because some character said something that could be construed as Anglophobic?

That's up to whatever network is showing or will be showing Friends.

Networks can drop shows for whatever reason they want. It's their right to do so.

If you don't like it, then don't watch that network.

Right. THAT is censorship ... however, as you stated, the network has the right to do so.

Then what's the problem?

Just as I have the right to state they are politically correct buffoons.

You're entitled to that opinion. However, thousands of other people are applauding what they did.

Thousands of politically correct people making a mountain out of a molehill are not impressive.

It's great to be living in the Kingdom on earth, right now.

Ya know, I never watched a single episode--never watched a single second of it, in fact.

To agree with their decision is to defend censorship and political correctness.

If you want to watch The Dukes of Hazzard, you can buy the entire series on DVD. A TV network can choose to air or not to air any programming they want. That's called freedom. How is freedom censorship?

No one is taking away anyone's right to fly a Confederate Flag, or watch the Dukes of Hazzard.

The flag symbolizes racism and hate. Why would a cable television network want to air a show that has that symbol portrayed in a positive way.

It would be like airing a show that had a Nazi flag on top of a 69' Charger with Heinrich Himmler on it, and portraying it in a positive way.

So, how do you interpret this image? I consider this to be just as offensive as any display of the stars & bars ever was. If being offensive is a protected right than we as Americans will all just have to deal with those things we find distasteful now won't we.

Not really the point. I was never a big fan of the show when it used to be regularly rerun in the UK (boy, do I feel old) but at least axe something for being crap as oppose to some PC 'outrage'...
Fair enough, I did see that Apple pulled games from the app store if they had the flag. I do think it is a little much.

If so they must've walked that back--I downloaded the Gettysburg game last week without a problem and sure enough, it features the rebel flag.
