British socialist death panel to "allow" baby to die, despite parents' wishes

And that relates to a baby being able to feel suffering and pain how exactly? Because they don't remember it then it never happened? Guess that makes Bill Cosby innocent, right?

You are the one who cannot answer a simple question, and pretend you dont understand it, because you dont LIKE the point.

Not an issue in this case, the parents have offers of free care and have raised the funds for moving the child. So who are you to interfere?

Not interfering, just asking a general question. If medical care is being offered to this child, then I think he should be allowed to have it. But what if such offers hadn't been made? Medical care is expensive. If you or someone else needs it to survive but cannot afford it, who do you expect to pay for it?

Doesnt matter to this discussion in any way. This is about the government claiming it knows best for a child over its parents who are able to take care of said child.

Make your own thread if you want a different discussion.

 Good question. The logical conclusion would be no pay, no service.

They feel it but they don't remember, you don't really feel it unless you remember. :chuckle:

So, if you feel horrible pain that renders you unconscious - or some sort of trauma that you can't remember later on - you haven't really felt it?

Is that your argument here?

No, you just said they felt horrible pain. You only feel the pain if you know you felt it, Just like you don't remember any pain from being a baby.

Well, no, I didn't just say that...

I'm trying to get your bearings on what constitutes suffering really. I don't remember much of anything as a baby but if recall is integral as you seem to be suggesting then I don't recall a whole lot of pain specifically in my formative years as it is. Does that mean it never happened and is okay to inflict?

Basically, if you're not aware of pain, do you really feel it?

If you have a central nervous system then that's part and parcel of it. Heck, why do you suppose people rail at late term abortions even if they're not staunchly pro life by way of example?
Certainly. I'm not advocating the infliction of pain on anyone, I guess I'm thinking as if I was the baby, and people telling me 25 years later how my life was saved because they didn't take me off the machine. I would know the story but I wouldn't remember any pain or discomfort from the breathing tubes.

Patients on the operating table generally have a central nervous system, and the procedures we do to many of them would make you barf

The goal of sedation therapy is to prevent them from feeling it or having any memory of it
