  • Thank you for those messages, Sela. I looked it up on Amazon and the first publisher's statement includes this:

God is love, and love invariably involves suffering.

Anyone who has loved knows this is true. Sometimes soul-shatteringly true. Just thinking about it... well.

I ordered the book, thanks again so much for the recommendation, and for your thoughtful observations.

I hope you're doing well yourself.
:chuckle: Take all the time you need, Sela. And thank you. Whenever you have the time, I'm not in any hurry.
    Thanks. :)

On the question: I aim to please.

No hurry, just write when you have the time and the inclination. :)
I got Welker's book but I changed my mind about reading it right now. I've been working my way through the OT using a Jewish study bible so I think I'm going to supplement that with the OT theology book I got a while back that was co-authored by Brueggemann.
This study bible has been interesting. LOTS of commentary. I'm in Leviticus right now and one thing I found interesting was their explanation of how the sacrifices, at least many of them, were meant to purge the sanctuary so God can continue his presence in Israel. I've been thinking about how there might be some parallels in that to Christ and the Eucharist and our bodies as temples.

Sela, I have a question for you, when I find the link I'll send you a PM.

Hope you're staying out of trouble.

    ... as if...

:chuckle: Due for a break any time soon?

I did end up ordering it. It is arriving Tuesday. I will probably start it right away. I've still been reading over parts of Jenson. I am not going to complete his 2nd volume right now. I read through the chapter on sin, which is before the section about the Church. I plan to finish it eventually but the I got through the parts I'm most interested with right now.

I've been doing pretty well. I was at the beach a couple weeks ago with my family which was nice. First vacation with my niece. She didn't like the beach very much. :chuckle: Next year, if they go, should be better.

    :wave2: How have you been?

I'm in the chapter in Jenson where he talks about politics. I thought his definition of politics (well as in his own creation but you know) and how most modern democracies are actually very far from politics was interesting. We just have managers managing our interests instead of real politics. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how he uses self-transcendence and how our S-T relies on others. Will be starting his personhood chapter soon.

I saw that Norway might give a mountain to Finland for its birthday. You Norwegians are generous. :chuckle:
Sorry for not responding to this sooner. We've been corresponding mostly through PMs now so I don't look at this page much. Thanks for the link. I hope to check it out soon.

Hope you are doing well. :e4e:
I'm jealous, I wish I had a set up like that!

I'll bet Ligeti sounds amazing on that...

Here's a short video of Essa Pekka Salonen on the work:
