"Bad" is a subjective term. Here, let me help. Jesus allowed the woman accused of adultery to walk free because no one came forward and stated who the man/men that she had an adulterous affair with was. It was required by Jewish and Roman law to have witnesses to testify to who committed the crime, so it was necessary to testify who the man or men were.
You'd be surprised at how many people (pastors included) who know the Bible don't know that.

2. to commit adultery with, have unlawful intercourse with another's wife
3. of the wife: to suffer adultery, be debauched
4. A Hebrew idiom, the word is used of those who at a woman's solicitation are drawn away to idolatry, i.e. to the eating of things sacrificed to idols
