toldailytopic: What does it take to survive on TOL, and can you predict those who will?

The ability to make a post like this and walk away from the thread:

There is no convincing you. You're happy to argue in circles and rely on false assertions and twisted logic to back yourself. If there's something wrong with you where you can't see what you're doing then I'm sorry for you. If not - grow up. You're being dishonest, frustrating and irrational.

My Top Twenty for Surviving on TOL, in no particular order:

10. Engendering strife is not Biblical, Phil. 1:15; 2:3; 2 Tim. 2:22-26; James 3:14, 16

You are still here.

11. Offer correction Biblically, per Galatians 6:1; 1 Peter 3:15-16

You are still here, and you are not Biblical. You are in fact, Mr Religion.

17. Confrontation is not a bad thing (but see #10 and 11 above), Ezekiel 33:6; 2 John 1:7-8

As long as it isn't your definition of strife I suppose.

#7 on AMR's list is one that a lot of folks need to do. If I'm entrenched on a point, what's the purpose in hammering me relentlessly? If someone else has dug in, it serves no purpose for me to stay after them.

Move on. Let 'em waller...

Just sayin'...

That is the only reason those three people are on the ignore list. It isn't that I don't want to answer their lies, I just won't respond to each post. Let the filibuster begin.

You have survived!

I think it's because you got real close to meeting Stripe's standard from the get-go.
(Except that animal avatar thing, That might sink you someday. )
Time will tell.

It's all in the choice of username and avatar. :)

There are a few guidelines:
Anyone with a number in their name is probably a whacko.
Four letters and three digits = banned in record time.
Guys with chicks in their avatars - weird.
Name too long - flames out.
Name too short - never gets noticed.
Animal names and avatars are to be avoided.
Those using God's names tend to be fairly ephemeral as do those who use their own name or occupation.
Changing username once is a good indicator of a stable user.

As always - beware the exceptions!

To be safe, stick with 5-6 letters, one word, no numbers, add a letter after a while, nothing declaring a religious affiliation, personal details or employment.

:)
