Martin Buber wrote about the way in which we interact with our fellows as being either "I/thou", or, "I/it".
Humans with whom we interact are not "its", they are not "things" to be manipulated or on whom we may place a price tag. Rather, humans are created in the image of God and must be treated as "Thous".
If we, as a society, put price tags on people, we shall not long endure.

Right. Just imagine if you had a monopoly on money creation. Pretty soon, you would own everything and everyone you wanted to own. That is what has happened, believe it or not.
