Praise the Lord!

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.
Romans 8:16

:poly:

It’s Real

O how well do I remember how I doubted day by day,
For I did not know for certain that my sins were washed away.
When the Spirit tried to tell me, I would not the truth receive;
I endeavored to be happy and to make myself believe.

When the truth came close and searching, all my joys would disappear,
For I did not have the witness of the Spirit bright and clear.
If at times the coming judgment would appear before my mind,
O it made me so uneasy, for God’s smile I could not find.

But alas I tired of living such a life of fear and doubt,
For I wanted God to give me something I would know about,
So the truth would make me happy and the light would clearly shine,
And the Spirit gave assurance a that I’m His and He is mine.

So I prayed to God in earnest, and not caring what folks said.
I was hungry for the blessing, my pour soul It must be fed.
Then at last by faith I touched Him and, like sparks from smitten steel,
Just so quick salvation reached me O bless God, I know it’s real!

But it’s real, it’s real!
O I know it’s real
Praise God, the doubts are settled,
For I know, I know it’s real!

:poly:

Thomas answered and said to Him,
“My Lord and my God!”

John 20:28

My God Is Real

There are some things I may not know,
There are some places I can’t go.
But I am sure of this one thing:
My God is real for I can feel Him deep within.
I cannot tell just how you felt
When Jesus took all your sins away.
But since that day, yes, since that hour,
God has been real for I can feel His holy power!
My God is real, real in my soul;
My God is real for He has washed and made me whole!
His love for me is like pure gold,
Yes, God is real, for I can feel Him in my soul.

Praise the Lord!

Whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
Galatians 6:7-8

:poly:

You’ll Reap Whatsoever You Sow

Sow flowers, and flowers will blossom
Around you wherever you go;
Sow weeds, and of weeds reap the harvest,
You’ll reap whatsoever you sow.

Sow blessings, and blessings will ripen,
Sow hatred, and hatred will grow;
Sow mercy and reap sweet compassion,
You’ll reap whatsoever you sow.

Sow love, and its sweetness uprising
Shall fill all your heart with its glow;
Sow hope, and receive its fruition,
You’ll reap whatsoever you sow.

In faith sow the word of the Master,
A blessing He’ll surely bestow;
And souls shine like stars for your crowning,
You’ll reap whatsoever you sow.

Preach Christ in His wonderful fullness,
That all His salvation may know;
Reap life thro’ the ages eternal,
You’ll reap whatsoever you sow.

You’ll reap whatsoever you sow,
Yes, you’ll reap whatsoever you sow,
The harvest is certainly coming,
You’ll reap whatsoever you sow.

:poly:

And let us not grow weary while doing good,
for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Galatians 6:9

Weary Not In Doing Well

Let us be patient, patient, think of the growing grain,
How long it lies in the darksome earth, nurtured by sun and rain.
Let us be patient, patient, strive as the grain to grow;
The tender grass and the ripening ear, heralds the corn we know.
Let us be patient, patient, day after day to gain,
Till fully ripe all our sheaves may be gathered like golden grain.
Waiting, praying, striving on the way, something to do for the Master,
Something for Him to say, not weary along the way.

Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
Mark 13:26

:poly:

We Shall the King

There’s a blessed time that’s coming, coming soon,
It may be evening, morning or at noon,
The wedding of the bride, united with the Groom,
We shall see the King when He comes.

Are you ready should the Savior call today?
Would Jesus say, “Well done” or “Go away”?
My home is for the pure, the vile can never stay,
We shall see the King when He comes.

Oh, my brother, are you ready for the call?
To crown your Savior king and Lord of all?
The kingdoms of this world shall soon before Him fall,
We shall see the King when He comes.

We shall see the King! ..... O glory!
We shall see the King! ..... Let us tell the gospel story!
We shall see the King when He comes;
He is coming in pow’r, we’ll hail the blessed hour,
We shall see the King when he comes.

:poly:

I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened.
Revelation 20:12

When The Roll is Called Up Yonder

When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair;
When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.
On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise,
And the glory of His resurrection share;
When His chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies,
And the roll, is called up yonder, I be there!
When the roll, is called up yonder.....When the roll is called up yonder I’ll be there!

Strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Hebrews 11:13

:poly:

Along the Path of Life

“Pilgrim, whither journey you along the path of life?
What’s the goal you have in view along the path of life?”
“Far beyond our vision, friend, is my journey’s blessed end;
Heavenward my footsteps wend along the path of life.”

“Pilgrim, why not halt and rest along the path of life?
Quickly on your way you’ve pressed along the path of life.”
“Nay, but through His precious grace soon I’ll end this earthly race;
I have no abiding place along the path of life.”

“Pilgrim, why look you so glad along the path of life?”
“Nearing home, should I be sad along the path of life?
Where yon crystal towers shine I shall see my King divine,
And eternal bliss be mine beyond this path of life.”

:poly:

I have been crucified with Christ;
it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me;
and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God,
who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Galatians 2:20

Only to Know

Only to know that the path I tread is the path marked out for me;
That the way, though thorny, rough and steep, will lead me nearer to Thee!
Only to know that the cross I bear is the one picked out for me,
Only to know that my loving Lord has chosen this cross for me.
Only to know when the day is past, and the evening shadows come,
That its trials and cares have proved indeed a “day’s march nearer home”!
Only to know that each fast-fleeting day is bringing me nearer home!

Sunday Morning Praise

Father’s Day

Only A Dad

Only a dad, with and tired face,
Coming home from the daily race,
Glad in his heart that his own rejoice
To see him come and hear his voice.

Only a dad with a brood of four,
One of ten million men or more
Plodding along in the daily strife,
Bearing the whips and scorns of life
With never a whimper of pain or hate
For the sake of those who at home await.

Only a dad, neither rich nor proud,
Merely one of the surging crowd,
Toiling, striving from day to day,
Facing whatever may come his way;
Strong whenever the harsh condemn
And bearing it all for love of them.

Only a dad, but he gave his all
To smooth the way for his children small,
Doing with courage brave and grim
The deeds that his father did for him;
These are the lines that for him I pen
Only a dad, but the best of men.

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us.

1 John 3:1

Father, Loving Father

Father, loving Father, hear Thy children’s call;
With Thy love enfold us, and protect us all.
From the dawn’s first glimmer, to the close of day
May we feel Thee near us on our earthly way.
And from evening prayer time through the dark of night,
Let us rest in quietness until morn brings light.
Teach our tongues to praise Thee in the hymns we sing;
Teach our hearts to love Thee as our voices ring.

Praise the Lord!

To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul.
Psalm 25:1
You called in trouble, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder.
Psalm 81:7
I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:20

:poly:

Never Alone

I’ve seen the lightning flashing, I’ve heard the thunder roll.
I’ve felt sin’s breakers dashing, which almost conquered my soul.
I’ve heard the voice of my Savior, bidding me still to fight on.
He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone!

The world’s fierce winds are blowing, temptation sharp and keen.
I have a peace in knowing my Savior stands between—
He stands to shield me from danger when my friends are all gone.
He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone!

When in affliction’s valley I tread the road of care,
My Savior helps me carry the cross so heavy to bear;
Though all around me is darkness, earthly joys all flown;
My Savior whispers His promise, never to leave me alone!

He died on Calvary’s mountain, for me they piercèd His side.
For me He opened that fountain, the crimson, cleansing tide.
For me He waiteth in glory, seated upon His throne.
He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone!

No, never alone, no never alone,
He promised never to leave me,
He’ll claim me for His own;
No, never alone, no never alone.
He promised never to leave me,
Never to leave me alone.

:poly:

If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also.
John 12:26

He Who Would Valiant Be

He who would valiant be ’gainst all disaster,
Let him in constancy follow the Master.
Who so beset him round with dismal stories
Do but themselves confound his strength the more is.
Since, Lord, Thou dost defend us with Thy Spirit,
We know we at the end, shall life inherit.
Then fancies flee away! I’ll fear not what men say,
I’ll labor night and day to be a pilgrim.

Praise the Lord!
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21
Because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1 John 4:4

:poly:

According to the Power

If our scanty measure were used,
How poor were the gifts of the Lord;
If our cups of thought and our pitchers of prayer
Were all that His love could afford.

But - above all our stammering tongues
Can voice of our deepest desire,
Abundant above all the pitiful good
To which our small minds can aspire;

Exceeding abundant above
The reach of our groveling thought;
So great is the fulness of knowledge and grace
His power to usward hath wrought.

:poly:

I am Yours.
Psalm 119:94

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely;
and may your whole spirit, soul,
and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5:23

Wholly Thine

Thine, most gracious Lord, O make me wholly Thine,
Thine in thought, in word and deed, for Thou, art mine.
Wholly Thine, to go when Thou dost call;
Thine to yield my very self in all things, great and small.
Wholly Thine, in every passing hour;
Thine to speak, as Thou dost grant the power.
Wholly Thine, to fashion as Thou wilt,
Strengthen, and keep the soul which Thou hast saved from guilt.
Thine, Lord, for ever one with Thee,
Rooted, grounded, abiding, sure and free.
Wholly Thine, Thou hast bought me, I am Thine;
Blessed Savior, Thou art mine; make me wholly Thine.

In His Keeping

When the early morning breaking, slumber from my eyelids shaking,
Comes the blessed tho’t with waking, I am in His keeping.
Day advances, labor bringing, care, her mantle ’round me flinging,
Yet midst all my soul keeps singing, I am in His care.

Sometimes dark clouds hang o’er me, not one step I see before me,
Still, my Savior, I adore Thee, I am in His keeping.
I can trust His hand to guide me, aNeath His wings He’ll safely hide me,
And no harm can e’er betide me, I am in His care.

When gentle eventide is nearing, light from heaven disappearing,
Still the blessed tho’t so cheering, I am in His keeping.
Now night’s curtains gather ’round me, yet its dangers have not found me,
For His angel guards surround me, I am in His care.

I am in my Father’s keeping, I am in His tender care;
Whether waking, whether sleeping, I am in His care.

He departed from there…to a deserted place.
Matthew 14:13

..........
There is no music in a rest, but there is the making of music in it.
..........

Music and Rest

Called aside – From the glad working of thy busy life,
From the world’s ceaseless stir of care and strife;
Called aside – Perhaps into a desert garden dim,
And yet not alone, when thou hast been with Him;
Called aside – In hidden paths with Christ thy Lord to tread,
Deeper to drink at the sweet Fountainhead;
Called aside – Oh, knowledge deeper grows with Him alone,
In secret of His deeper love is shown;
Called aside – We thank thee for the stillness and the shade,
We thank Thee for the hidden paths Thy love hath made;
Called aside – Oh, restful thought–He doeth all things well,
Oh, blessed sense, with Christ alone to dwell;
So in the shadow of Thy cross to hide,
We thank Thee, Lord, to have been called aside.

My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD.
And in the morning my prayer comes before You.
Psalm 5:3 ~ Psalm 88:13
Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight,
He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.

My times are in Your hand.
Mark 1:35 ~ Psalm 31:15

In the holy hush of the early dawn I hear a Voice

:poly:

The Lord’s Times

In the early morning hours,
’Twixt the night and day,
While from earth the darkness passes
Silently away…

Then ’tis sweet to talk with Jesus
In thy chamber still
For the coming day and duties
Ask to know His will,

Then He’ll lead the way before you,
Mountains laying low;
Making desert places blossom,
Sweet’ning Marah’s flow,

Would you know this life of triumph,
Victory all the way?
Then put God in the beginning
Of each coming day.

:poly:

My times are in Your hand.
Psalm 31:15

My Times Are in Thy Hand

My times are in Thy hand, my God, I wish them there;
My life, my friends, my soul I leave entirely to Thy care.
My times are in Thy hand, whatever they may be;
My times are in Thy hand, Jesus, my advocate.
My times are in Thy hand, I’ll always trust in Thee;
And, after death, at Thy right hand I shall forever be.

Psalm 95:2

We Lift Our Hearts in Thanks Today

We lift our hearts in thanks today
For all the gifts of life;
And first, for peace that turns away
The enemies of strife;

And next, the beauty of the earth,
Its flowers and lovely things,
The spring’s great miracle of birth,
With sound of songs and wings;

Then, harvests of its teeming soil
In orchard, croft and field;
But more, the service and the toil
Of those who helped them yield;

And most, the gifts of hope and love,
Of wisdom, truth and right,
The gifts that shine like stars above
To chart the world by night.

As we receive, so let us give,
With ready, generous hand,
Rich fruitage from the lives we live
To bless our home and land.

For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.
Psalm 107:9

Three things make us happy and content:
the seeing eye, the hearing ear, and the responsive heart.

:poly:

Satisfied

I have tasted heaven’s manna, and I want no other bread.
In green pastures I am dwelling, and my hung’ring soul is fed.
At the living fount of waters, I have quenched my thirst for aye.
I am living in God’s glory, and my sins are washed away.

All my life I had a longing for a drink from some clear spring,
That I hoped would quench the burning of the thirst I felt within.
Feeding on the husks around me, till my strength was almost gone,
Longed my soul for something better, only still to hunger on.

Poor I was, and sought for riches, something that would satisfy,
But the dust I gathered round me only mocked my soul’s sad cry.
Well of water, ever springing, Bread of Life so rich and free,
Untold wealth that never faileth, My Redeemer is to me.

Hallelujah! I have found Him whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus satisfies my longings, through His blood the price was paid.
Hallelujah! Yes! I have found Him! O, whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus truly satisfies my longings, through His blood I now am saved.

Sunday Morning Praise

In Thankful Remembrance

What shall I render to Thy name or how Thy praises speak?
My thanks how shall I testify, O Lord, Thou know’st I’m weak.
I owe so much, so little can return unto Thy name,
Confusion seizes on my soul, and I am filled with shame.

O Thou that hearest prayers, Lord, to Thee shall come all flesh
Thou hast me heard and answered, my complaints have had access.
What did I ask for but Thou gav’st, what could I more desire?
But thankfulness even all my days I humbly this require.

Thy mercies, Lord, have been so great in number numberless,
Impossible for to recount or any way express.
O help Thy us that seek Thy face to return unto Thee praise
And walk before Thee as they ought, in strict and upright ways.

We took sweet counsel together, and walked to the house of God in a company.
Psalm 55:14

Let Your mercies come also to me, O LORD…according to Your word.
Psalm 119:41

:poly:

Father of Mercies, in Thy Word

Father of mercies, in Thy Word what endless glory shines!
Forever be Thy Name adored for these celestial lines.
Here may the wretched sons of want exhaustless riches find;
Riches above what earth can grant, and lasting as the mind.

Here the fair tree of knowledge grows and yields a free repast;
And richer fruits than nature shows invite the longing taste.
Amidst these gloomy wilds below, when dark and sad we stray,
Here beams of Heaven relieve our woe, and guide to endless day.

Here springs of consolation rise to cheer the fainting mind,
And thirsty souls receive supplies, and sweet refreshment find.
Here the Redeemer’s welcome voice spreads heavenly peace around
And life and everlasting joys attend the blissful sound.

Oh, may these hallowed pages be our joy by day and night,
And still new beauties may we see, and still increasing light.
Divine Instructor, gracious Lord, O grant our fervent prayer,
Teach us to love Thy sacred Word, and view our Savior there.

Wonderful Grace of Jesus

Wonderful grace of Jesus, greater than all my sin;
How shall my tongue describe it, where shall its praise begin?
Taking away my burden, setting my spirit free;
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Wonderful grace of Jesus, reaching to all the lost,
By it I have been pardoned, saved to the uttermost,
Chains have been torn asunder, giving me liberty;
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Wonderful grace of Jesus, reaching the most defiled,
By its transforming power, making him God’s dear child,
Purchasing peace and heaven, for all eternity;
And the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus,
Deeper than the mighty rolling sea;
Wonderful all sufficient grace for even me.
Broader than all of my transgressions,
Greater far than all my sin and shame,
O magnify the precious Name of Jesus.
Praise His Name!
