:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on.
Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Matthew 6:25-34

:poly:

Do Not Worry

Do not worry for your life, what you’ll eat or drink or wear;
Is not life much more important than these things that cause you care?
See the birds, they sow and reap not, nor in barns do store away.
Yet your heav’nly Father feeds them, have you not more worth than they?

And why worry about clothing? See the lilies’ glad array;
Solomon in all his splendor never dressed as fine as they.
This is how God clothes the grasses, though their life is but a day.
Will He not much more meet your needs? Let your faith not fade away.

So I tell you, do not worry, asking what you’ll eat or drink.
Nor be anxious about clothing, these are things that all men seek.
And your Father knows you need them; worry won’t command His power.
Which of you by constant fretting adds to life a single hour?

Seek first, then, your Father’s kingdom and His righteousness on high.
All these things will then be given; God will not neglect your cry.
So fret not about tomorrow; God directs the future, too.
Though each day will bring its troubles, trust in Him, He’ll see you through.

:poly:

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. 1 John 5:14-15 ~ “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Luke 11:9-10

Bless This Hour of Prayer

Come in our midst, O gracious Lord, unveil Thy smiling face,
Distil in every waiting heart, the dew of heavenly grace;
From earthly scenes we turn aside, on Thee we cast our care;
Thy promise we believe, that bids us seek and we shall find,
We gather at Thy mercy seat, our only hope is there,
Support the weak, the mourner cheer, help all their cross to bear;
Thou spring of joy, Thou source of life, O! bless this hour of prayer.

Praise the Lord!

The Father of mercies and God of all comfort.
2 Corinthians 1:3

:poly:

God of All Comfort

“God of all comfort,” calm and fair
Stretch the broad plains beneath Thine eye;
And silent, through the hazy air,
Rise the blue hills to meet the sky.

The music of the Sabbath bells
Floats softly on the balmy air,
And the green earth in thousand tones
Lifts to Thy throne her grateful prayer.

“God of all comfort,” deeper far
Than the glad voice of earth or sea,
Swells the full tide of thankful song
Our hearts would offer unto Thee.

Yet when we strive, our lips can frame
No words to speak Thy matchless love,
So far the honor of Thy name
Lies all our highest thoughts above.

Read Thou within our silent hearts,
The songs they vainly seek to raise,
And count their grateful tears for prayer,
Their blessed joy for tuneful praise.

:poly:

He will gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom.
Isaiah 40:11

Near to the Heart of God

There is a place of quiet rest, near to the heart of God.
A place where sin cannot molest…
There is a place of comfort sweet, near to the heart of God.
A place where we our Savior meet…
There is a place of full release, near to the heart of God.
A place where all is joy and peace…
O Jesus, blest Redeemer, sent from the heart of God,
Hold us who wait before Thee…
“Near to the heart of God.”

For He remembered His holy promise.
He brought out His people with joy.

Psalm 105:42-43

:poly:

Sunday Morning Praise

O Thou Whose Hand Hath Brought Us

O Thou whose hand hath brought us unto this joyful day,
Accept our glad thanksgiving, and listen as we pray;
And may our preparation for this day’s service be
With one accord to offer ourselves, O Lord, to Thee.

For this Thy house we praise Thee, reared at Thine own command,
For every generous spirit, and every willing hand;
And now within Thy temple Thy glory let us see,
For all its strength and beauty are nothing without Thee.

And oft as here we gather, and hearts in worship blend,
May truth reveal its power, and fervent prayers ascend;
Here may the busy toiler rise to the things above;
The young, the old, be strengthened, and all men learn Thy love.

And as the years roll onward, and strong affections twine,
And tender mem’ries gather about this sacred shrine,
May this its chief distinction, its glory, ever be,
That multitudes within it have found their way to Thee.

Lord God, our fathers’ helper, our joy, and hope and stay:
Grant now a gracious earnest of many a coming day.
Our yearning hearts Thou knowest, we wait before Thy throne,
O come, and by Thy presence make this new house Thine own.

:poly:

But I have trusted in Your mercy; my heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
Psalm 13:5
The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying:
Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.

Jeremiah 31:3

O Love That Will Not Let Go

O Love that wilt not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe, that in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.
O light that followest all my way, I yield my flickering torch to thee;
My heart restores its borrowed ray, that in thy sunshine’s blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.
O Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain, and feel the promise is not vain,
That morn shall tearless be.
O Cross that liftest up my head, I dare not ask to fly from thee;
I lay in dust life’s glory dead, and from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be.

Praise the Lord!

The LORD is my shepherd.
Psalm 23:1

The sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
John 10:3

:poly:

God Leads Us Along

In shady, green pastures, so rich and so sweet,
God leads His dear children along;
Where the water’s cool flow bathes the weary one’s feet,
God leads His dear children along.

Sometimes on the mount where the sun shines so bright,
God leads His dear children along;
Sometimes in the valley, in darkest of night,
God leads His dear children along.

Though sorrows befall us and evils oppose,
God leads His dear children along;
Through grace we can conquer, defeat all our foes,
God leads His dear children along.

Away from the mire, and away from the clay,
God leads His dear children along;
Away up in glory, eternity’s day,
God leads His dear children along.

Some through the waters, some through the flood,
Some through the fire, but all through the blood;
Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,
In the night season and all the day long.

:poly:

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
John 10:27

My Sheep Know My Voice

My sheep hear My voice, and the path that I take,
They follow wherever I go; a stranger’s voice do they not know;
My sheep hear My voice, and to pastures green I lead them so often to feed,
And to the cool sparkling stream where beside its still waters I lead.
My sheep will know My voice, in the valley of dread I shall lead them some day;
But no danger nor harm can touch them, for I will be with them alway.
My sheep know My voice, and day by day they abide in the fold and go not astray,
They love Me, they made me their choice, My sheep know My voice.

Thank you Psalmist. Such comfortable words lift the heart.
It reminds me of how a mother knows her own baby's cry and the difference in the tone of a child's voice at play between fun and harm.
Our loving God knows our voices and our needs.

Praise the Lord!

For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord.
Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's.

Romans 14:8

Living for Jesus

Living for Jesus O what peace!
Rivers of pleasure never cease.
Trials may come, yet I’ll not fear.
Living for Jesus, He is near.

Living for Jesus O what rest!
Pleasing my Savior, I am blest.
Only to live for Him alone,
Doing His will till life is done!

Living for Jesus everywhere,
All of my burden He doth bear.
Friends may forsake me; He’ll be true.
Trusting in Him, He’ll guide me through.

Living for Jesus till at last
Into His glory I have passed;
There to behold Him on His throne,
Hear from His lips, “My child, well done!”

Help me to serve Thee more and more.
Help me to praise Thee o’er and o’er;
Live in Thy presence day by day,
Never to turn from Thee away.

:poly:

For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God.
Romans 14:18

It May Not Be Our Lot

It may not be our lot to wield the sickle in the ripened field;
Nor ours to hear, on seasons eves, the reaper’s song among the sheaves.
And ours the grateful service whence comes, day by day, the recompense;
The hope, the trust, the purpose stayed, the fountain, and the noonday shade.
And were this lift the utmost span, the only end and aim of man,
Better the toil of fields like these than waking dream and slothful ease.
But life, though falling like our grain, like that revives and springs again;
And, early called, how blest are they who wait in heaven, their harvest day!

Trusting and Hoping

I am rejoicing, trusting and hoping;
Looking to Jesus, Savior divine;
He is my refuge; softly He whispers,
I have redeemed thee, child, thou art Mine.

I am rejoicing, trusting and hoping;
He is my Savior; what shall I fear?
He like a shepherd leadeth me gently,
Close by the waters flowing so clear.

I am rejoicing, trusting and hoping;
Into the mansions waiting above,
Clothed in His brightness, He will receive me,
Heir to His kingdom, child of His love.

I am rejoicing, ever rejoicing,
Trusting and hoping all the day long;
Looking to Jesus, only to Jesus;
He is my refuge, comfort and song.

The rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. Matthew 7:25

My Hope is Built

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ name.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

Praise the Lord!

Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
nor have entered into the heart of man
the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.

1 Corinthians 2:9

:poly:

What Will It Be?

If today, amid the storms of life that wildly beat around us,
We the rainbow of our blessed Lord can see,
And rejoice to hear Him calling, as when first the Shepherd found us,
When we stand in His presence, what will it be?

If His love so freely shed abroad can fill our hearts with glory,
If the sweetest song of earth is: Come to Me;
If such blessing it affords us just to tell the precious story,
When we stand in His presence, what will it be?

If our faith in Him can fill our hearts with joy to overflowing,
And the Lord, unseen, to us so dear can be;
If we love Him while in tears and pain for harvest we are sowing,
When we stand in His presence, what will it be?

If when those we love are taken from us we can still adore Him,
And to Him in that dark hour for comfort flee;
As we clasp their hands on yonder shore, to cast our crowns before Him,
When we stand in His presence, what will it be?

What will it be? What will it be?
With the Lord to reign thro’ all eternity!
On that blissful shore, saved forevermore,
As we stand in His presence, what will it be?

:poly:

Now we see but a poor reflection…then we shall see face to face.
1 Corinthians 13:12

What Will It Be When We See Him

If singing His praises is sweet to us here…
What will it be when we see Him?
If we upon earth are amazed at His grace…
What will it be when we see Him?
Our heart burns within us when His voice is heard…
What will it be when we see Him?
We shall in an instant be wholly transformed…
We’ll know what He is when we see Him.

Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you.
Psalm 55:22

:poly:

Leave it There

If the world from you withhold of its silver and its gold,
And you have to get along with meager fare,
Just remember, in His Word, how He feeds the little bird;
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

If your body suffers pain and your health you can’t regain,
And your soul is almost sinking in despair,
Jesus knows the pain you feel, He can save and He can heal;
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

When your enemies assail and your heart begins to fail,
Don’t forget that God in Heaven answers prayer;
He will make a way for you and will lead you safely through.
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

When your youthful days are gone and old age is stealing on,
And your body bends beneath the weight of care;
He will never leave you then, He’ll go with you to the end.
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

Leave it there, yes, leave it there,
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
If you trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out.
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

:poly:

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7

I Have Given My Cares to Jesus

I have given my cares to Jesus, and He took them from my hand,;
On the altar of surrender — there I left them, where He stands.
I have given my cares to Jesus, now I know that all is well;
On I go to be His witness, of His love to ever tell.
What assurance! what a priv’lege! What salvation, full and grand!
He has lifted ev’ry burden, soothed and helped me with His hand.

Matthew 13:23

Only Once You Pass This Way

Do your best while life’s pilgrim way you tread,
Scatt’ring sunshine while you may;
Bear in mind, while the precious seed you spread,
Only once you pass this way.

Ev’ry day poor and needy you will find,
Filled with sorrow and dismay;
Do your best some poor, broken hearts to bind,
Only once you pass this way.

Tell the world that the Savior died for all,
Bid them ever watch and pray;
Lift your voice, shout aloud the Gospel call,
Only once you pass this way.

Be a brave, earnest soldier in the strife,
Then when comes the close of day,
May the world be the better for your life,
Only once you pass this way.

Only once you pass this way,
Yes, only once you pass this way;
Be a blessing while you may,
Remember, only once you pass this way.

1 Corinthians 15:58

If I Can Help Somebody

If I can help somebody as I pass along,
If I can cheer somebody with a word or song,
If I can show somebody he is trav’ling wrong,
If I can help somebody as I pass along;
If I can do my duty as a Christian ought,
If I can bring back beauty to a world up-wrought,
If I can spread love’s message that the Master taught,
If I can help somebody as I pass along,
Then my living shall not be in vain.

Sunday Morning Praise

Mother’s Day

A Mother’s Love

There are times when only a mother's love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappoints
And calm all of our fears.

There are times when only a mother’s love
Can share the joy we feel
When something we've dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real.

There are times when only a mother’s faith
Can help us on life’s way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day.

For a mother's heart and a mother’s faith
And a mother's steadfast love
Were fashioned by the angels
And sent from God above.

James 5:16

My Mother’s Prayer

I never can forget the day I heard my mother kindly say,
“You’re leaving now my tender care, remember, child, your mother’s prayer.”
I never can forget the voice that always made my heart rejoice;
Though I have wandered God knows where, still I remember Mother’s prayer.
Though years have gone, I can’t forget those words of love — I hear them yet;
I see her by the old arm chair, my mother dear, in humble prayer.
I never can forget the hour I felt the Savior’s cleansing pow’r.
My sin and guilt be canceled there, ’twas there He answered Mother’s prayer.
O praise the Lord for saving grace! We’ll meet up yonder face to face;
The home above together share, in answer to my mother’s prayer.

Lord of My Life!

Lord of my life! Whose tender care
Hath led me on till now,
Here lowly at the hour of daily prayer
Before Thy radiant throne I humbly bow;

Oh, may I daily, hourly, strive
In heav’nly grace to grow;
To Thee and to Thy glory ever live,
Dead to all other earthly things below;
Tread in the path my Savior trod,
Though thorny, yet to God.

With prayers my humble praise I bring
For mercies day by day;
Lord! teach my willing heart Thy love to sing,
Lord! teach me now and ever how to pray;
All that I have, I give to Thee
Through all eternity.

Life in the Loom

Children of yesterday, heirs of tomorrow,
What are you weaving? labor and sorrow?
Look to your loom again, faster and faster
Fly the great shuttles prepared by the Master.
Lighten the labor and sweeten the sorrow,
Now while the shuttles fly faster and faster,
Up and be doing the work with the Master.
Look at your fabric of labor and sorrow;
Seamy and dark with despair and disaster,
Turn it and lo, the design of the Master.

Romans 13:12

:poly:

Until the Day Dawn

Let that day come, O Lord, and other days pass by;
Night is far spent, and dawning tells that Thou art drawing nigh.
A morning without clouds, clear shining after rain,
It shall awake the slumbering earth to dewy youth again.

Watch ye, and work, and wait, for Him your vigils keep,
Lest coming suddenly, He find His servants sunk in sleep.
Watch, for the Bridegroom comes, the hour one knoweth not;
But yet the stars are growing pale, and He hath not forgot.

Watch till your eyes shall see the glow first flush the sky:
Light of the world, arise and shine in full-orbed radiancy!
Hasten Thy coming, Lord! Dawn, O thou glorious day!
Then shall the fairest days of earth pass into shade away.

:poly:

But of that day and hour no one knows,
not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Mark 13:32

He is Near

I know not when the Lord will come, or at what hour He may appear,
Whether at midnight or at morn, or at what season of the year.
I know not what of time remains, to run its course, in this low sphere,
Or what awaits of calm or storm, of joy or grief, or hope or fear.
I do not think it can be long, till in His glory He appear;
And yet I dare not name the day, nor fix the solemn advent year.
I only know that He is near, and His voice I soon shall hear;
I know that He is near, yes, His voice I soon shall hear.

Colossians 3:17

Have I Done My Best For Jesus?

I wonder have I done my best for Jesus,
Who died upon the cruel tree?
To think of His great sacrifice at Calvary!
I know my Lord expects the best from me.

The hours that I have wasted are so many
The hours I’ve spent for Christ so few;
Because of all my lack of love for Jesus,
I wonder if His heart is breaking too.

I wonder have I cared enough for others,
Or have I let them die alone?
I might have helped a wand’rer to the Saviour,
The seed of precious Life I might have sown.

No longer will I stay within the valley
I’ll climb to mountain heights above;
The world is dying now for want of someone
To tell them of the Saviour’s matchless love.

How many are the lost that I have lifted?
How many are the chained I’ve helped to free?
I wonder, have I done my best for Jesus,
When He has done so much for me?

1 Corinthians 12:31

Give of Your Best to the Master

Give of your best to the Master; give of the strength of your youth.
Throw your soul’s fresh, glowing ardor into the battle for truth.
Give of your best to the Master, give Him first place in your heart.
Give Him first place in your service, consecrate every part.
Give of your best to the Master, naught else is worthy His love.

If We Could See Beyond Today

If we could see beyond today as God can see,
If all the clouds should roll away, the shadows flee;
O’er present grief’s we would not fret,
Each sorrow we would soon forget,
For many joys are waiting yet for you and me.

If we could know beyond today as God doth know,
Why dearest treasures pass away, and tears must flow;
And why the darkness leads to light,
Why dreary days will soon grow bright,
Some day life’s wrong will be made right, faith tells us so.

If we could see, if we could know we often say,
But God in love a veil doth throw across our way.
We cannot see what lies before,
And so we cling to Him the more,
He leads us till this life is o’er, trust and obey.

My times are in Thy hand, as best may seem to Thee.

Tho’ rough may be thy path, and long,
Remember! that with grief as sore,
And burdens larger far than thine,
Some heart has gone this way before.

Tho’ dark may be the gath’ring night;
Tho’ loud and long the storm may roar;
Take courage! thou art not the first,
Some heart has gone this way before.

Some heart has gone this way before,
Some feet have scaled this dizzy height;
Some yearning eyes have pierced the gloom,
And seen the dawn of Heaven’s light.

So thou, dear pilgrim, too, canst go;
Some day thy trials will be o’er;
For unto rest and peace beyond,
Some heart has gone this way before.

Trust then in Christ! His arm will guide
Each faithful one thro’ Jordan’s tide;
Hope on! the race will soon be past
And victory will come at last.

Renew the Hearts of All

God is here, and that to bless us
With the Spirit’s quick’ning power;
See, the cloud already bending,
Waits to drop the grateful shower.

God is here! we feel His presence
In this consecrated place;
But we need the soul refreshing
Of His free, unbounded grace.

God is here! oh, then, believing,
Bring to Him our one desire,
That His love may now be kindled,
Till its flame each heart inspire.

Savior, grant the prayer we offer,
While in simple faith we bow,
From the windows of Thy mercy
Pour us out a blessing now.

Let it come, O Lord, we pray Thee,
Let the shower of blessing fall;
We are waiting, we are waiting,
Oh, renew the hearts of all.

Christ hath made us free.
Galatians 5:1

I am Resolved

I am resolved no longer to linger, charmed by the world’s delight,
I am resolved to go to the Savior, leaving my sin and strife;
I am resolved to follow the Savior, faithful and true each day;
I am resolved, and who will go with me? Come, friends, without delay,
Taught by the Bible, led by the Spirit, we’ll walk the pilgrimage way.

Praise the Lord!

Then…the first day of the week...the disciples were assembled…
Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

John 20:19

For where two or three are gathered together in My name,
I am there in the midst of them.

Matthew 18:20

Sunday Morning Praise

We Gather in Thy Name

We gather in Thy name, O Master,
We come with one accord;
O meet with us, we pray, this moment,
Fulfill Thy holy Word.

We gather in Thy name, O Savior,
Thy grace on us bestow;
Now let us feel Thy gracious presence,
And with Thy love o’erflow.

We gather in Thy name, O Jesus,
We come to worship Thee;
For Thou dost save us thro’ Thy merit,
To all eternity.

Meet with us, we pray,
Meet with us today,
Set our waiting hearts aflame;
Fill us with Thy love,
Sent from Heav’n above,
As we gather in Thy name.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
1 Corinthians 16:23

Wonderful Grace of Jesus

Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus,
Deeper than the mighty rolling sea;
Wonderful all sufficient grace for even me.
Broader than all of my transgressions,
Greater far than all my sin and shame,
O magnify the precious Name of Jesus.
Praise His Name!

Praise the Lord!

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Colossians 3:17

Have I Done My Best For Jesus?

I wonder have I done my best for Jesus,
Who died upon the cruel tree?
To think of His great sacrifice at Calvary!
I know my Lord expects the best from me.

I wonder have I cared enough for others,
Or have I let them die alone?
I might have helped a wand’rer to the Saviour,
The seed of precious Life I might have sown.

No longer will I stay within the valley
I’ll climb to mountain heights above;
The world is dying now for want of someone
To tell them of the Saviour’s matchless love.

How many are the lost that I have lifted?
How many are the chained I’ve helped to free?
I wonder, have I done my best for Jesus,
When He has done so much for me?

But earnestly desire the best gifts.
And yet I show you a more excellent way.

1 Corinthians 12:31

Give of Your Best to the Master

Give of your best to the Master,
Give Him your loyal devotion,
Give the best you have.
Give of your best to the Master,
Naught else is worthy of His love.
He gave Himself for your ransom,
Gave up His glory above.
Laid down His life without murmur,
You from sin’s ruin to save.
Give Him your heart’s adoration,
Give Him the best you have.

Praise the Lord!

O God, my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.

Psalm 108:1

:poly:

My Steadfast Heart, O God

My steadfast heart, O God,
Will sound Thy praise abroad
With tuneful string;
The dawn shall hear my song,
Thy praise I will prolong,
And where Thy people throng
Thanksgiving bring.

Thy truth and tender love
Are high as Heav’n above;
Thy help we crave.
Be Thou exalted high
Above the lofty sky;
Lest Thy beloved die,
O hear and save.

God’s Word shall surely stand;
His name through every land
Shall be adored;
Lord, who shall lead our host?
Thine aid we covet most,
In Thee is all our boast,
Strong in the Lord.

I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.
Psalm 17:15

Some Sweet Morn

Some sweet morn the day will break,
Nevermore to sink in night.
Some sweet morn we shall awake,
Mid the everlasting light.
Some sweet day the end shall come
To our parting and our pain,
Some sweet day we’ll all go home,
Nevermore to part again.
Some sweet morn we’ll see His face,
And we shall be satisfied.
