These things can be difficult. :sigh:Do you mean that you have difficulty with buttons or that you wear the wrong sort of costume?
You're ok. :sigh:I'm more grinchy about Halloween than I am about Christmas.
I think it's good to have a kind of "kids day". And I think it's fun for them to dress up and 'trick or treat' adults. I do think we should focus more on it being attached to the fall harvest then on death and ghosts and all that.
Adults like to dress up in costumes and party, too, but I think their costume party should be New Years, or something, so they can focus on the kids on Halloween. (Or as I'd call it "Harvest Eve".)
My little girl wants to be a walking dead zombie this year. Her grandmother has been showig her the old Michael Jackson Thriller video and trying to mimic the zombies movement in them. It's adorable to watch her do her zombie dance.
We're talking 'bout a pee-wee cheerleader.I'd pay good money for a video of Tam showing your little girl how to do the zombie moves from Thriller. :chuckle:

It's pretty easy to leave the death superstitions out of it so the kids can just have fun. I actually think it's healthy for them to be able to dress up as someone or something else and have fun doing it. And to be rewarded for their creative spirit with a treat. Creative play is essential for kids, … and for adults, too.I've no issues with Halloween other than my dear husband buying too much candy and me eating it.
I will say my well-intentioned mother made me stop doing Halloween at 8 years old because she thought it was satanic. They bought me candy instead but it was the dressing up that was the fun part. So my boys are getting that opportunity. My oldest has a Link costume from the Legend of Zelda.
But really, who doesn't like candy? lain:A favorite day for Sodomites
Yes. Definitely. My only objection to Halloween as it is, now, is it's connection to unhealthy death-related superstitions. Otherwise, I think it's both fun and healthy for the kids, and maybe a little for the adults, too. I think the costumes should be more fantasy related, and the lesson could be more about hope and bounty instead of fear and death. That seems to be the consensus so far. Did you pick harvest day?

She's got the moves!
Jack said he wants to go as a big sack this year and then people will give him more candy because if they don't it will look like they're stingy.
Gotta love a thinker.
He's four and a half come mid December, but he's a wunderkind. My goodness. How old is Jack now?
He has a musicians hands, a philosopher's mind and a comedians mouth, so God alone knows what that combination foretells. Whatever it is I know one thing, it won't be boring.I sure hope he doesn't grow up to be a politician.
