He's four and a half come mid December, but he's a wunderkind.

He has a musicians hands, a philosopher's mind and a comedians mouth, so God alone knows what that combination foretells. Whatever it is I know one thing, it won't be boring. :)

Sweet. I have a grandson who just turned five. His hands, mind, and mouth are pure Ninja, so God alone knows if there will be any jobs for him when he grows up. ;)

I think it's good to have a kind of "kids day". And I think it's fun for them to dress up and 'trick or treat' adults. I do think we should focus more on it being attached to the fall harvest then on death and ghosts and all that.

Adults like to dress up in costumes and party, too, but I think their costume party should be New Years, or something, so they can focus on the kids on Halloween. (Or as I'd call it "Harvest Eve".)

I agree PURE X.
Look I like kids. We all do. We want to share in their joy. And be a part of their joy.

But Halloween?

It might too late now. But next year, consider a Harvest / fall season that God has bought us. The leaves are turning, the fall chill, and seasonal change to usher in winter. A God given celebration. Decorate with fall things and lots of good lighting to show off your decorations and make it obvious your presenting God for the season.

You'll have to be nicely clever when the kids state " Trick or treat". Perhaps state, No tricks but a special treat from God to celebrate Gods love for you". Then have a nice colorful tract, or small coloring book, ( Or card ) , the kids can go home and color with. And a heading ,stating Gods love for the child and the child's family. Oh yes, a candy attached to the tract or coloring book. Something yummy like a peanut butter cup or a small Snickers bar. Kids still like these don't they?

Just giving my brothers and sisters an idea here.

Jack said he wants to go as a big sack this year and then people will give him more candy because if they don't it will look like they're stingy.

Gotta love a thinker.
Hmmm, sounds like a natural born con-man to me! :chuckle:

Maybe he'll grow up to be a politician. "Trick or treat!" indeed!

So far, Halloween is shaping up to be mainly a day for kids, slightly over a family day
Fun for kids, Candy day, Dress-up spooky day, Kid’s night out
Vs
A day for pumpkins, Meet the neighbours, A day to make goodies, Family get-together

It's a month long marathon, for me. I don't worship any deities and my views of the supernatural are that it's just normal phenomena that we don't yet understand. I just like horror movies and games. Living in a forest while all the foliage changes color, then dies out is nice, too. I prefer late fall/winter to the warm months.

What does Halloween mean to you? Share your opinions about what Halloween means for you, and how you celebrate it, or abstain, and tell us why?

To this day, to me it means Peanuts, and anything Peanuts is a good thing, a great thing!

Thank you all for participating in this poll.
I see here, on TOL, Halloween is mostly a kids fun day, and about half to as many of you see it as a holiday, same with being a family day, a little more than half think so.

Why is the only option pertaining to All Saints Day phrased as a "cover"? It actually is All Hallows Eve, the evening before All Saints Day.

Didn't Jesus say something about wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to trick-or-treating?
