Ok, let's work back. Saturday would be one day, Friday would be another day, Thursday would be another day. That's three days.

Now what about the nights? Friday night would be one night, Thursday night would be another night, Wednesday night would be another night. That's three nights.

So we have Wednesday night - Thursday, Thursday night - Friday, Friday night - Saturday. Three days and three nights.

You would contend then that Christ rose 6pm Saturday.

right?

Mat 28:1 Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
Mat 28:2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it.
Mat 28:3 His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow.
Mat 28:4 And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.
Mat 28:5 But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.
Mat 28:6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Yes, He was raised from the dead on Saturday before sunset.

Sunset , in that culture was the beginning of a new day.

There is no reason to assume that the passage you share

Mat 28:2 And behold, there was a great earthquake;

is stating events in rapid succession.

That refers to what had happened the evening before. Note the word was, it did not happen while the women were there.

Not all passages in scripture are chronological.

Absolutely, that's what Mark said.

Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week... (Mark 16:9 KJV)

Early on the first day of the week would be at the beginning of the first day of the week (six PM Saturday).

Jesus Christ died on the day of preparation. The next day was the Passover.

He did not eat the Passover meal. He was the passover lamb that year. I Corinthians 5:7

Evidently the religious leaders visited Pilate on the Passover.

Just testing things.

Are you not saying that Jesus died on Wednesday the day of preparation and the Passover day was Thursday.

Then what about Friday?

Would not the women have come to the tomb on Friday?

Also if Sunday was the third day which started at 6pm Saturday, then two days before that began at 6 pm Friday and 6 pm Thursday.

Can you explain that.

No.

Mar 16:1 Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him.
Mar 16:2 Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.

They could have come to the tomb on Friday, but what would they accomplish other than to mourn?

The soldiers were guarding the tomb, so their desire to embalm Jesus Christ would have to wait until after they left.

Why are you counting only two days? Matthew 12:40, Jesus states twice, so there is no mistake about it, that he would be interred for three days and nights.

Saturday back to Friday is one day and night

Friday back to Thursday is the second day and night

Thursday back to Wednesday is the third day and night

Luke says the spices were prepared before the Sabbath.

And they returned and prepared spices and ointments and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment. (Luke 23:56 KJV)

You need to allow for more than one Sabbath during the seven day Feast of Passover.

What would have been the point? The tomb was sealed and a guard posted until the third day of the request on Thursday.

Are you trying to say that the stone was rolled back at 6pm Saturday and none knew until the next morning some 10 to 12 hours after?

It was very dark when Christ arose, was it not.

A Wednesday crucifixion still will not fit--

Luk 24:21 But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened.

Sunday was the third day.

The problem is that the disciples on the road to Emmaus said the first day of the week was the third day.

Luk 24:21 But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened.

Also the scripture states that Christ would rise ON the third day--

Mat 16:21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

If they showed up, they would have known it.

Wednesday evening burial and Saturday evening resurrection, there are three days and nights between the two evenings.

Have you ever used a tape measure or a yardstick to measure a distance? do you start at the one foot mark to start measuring or do you start at the zero point at the beginning.

Jesus died on Wednesday evening, that is the zero starting point.

the first day ends on Thursday evening

The second day ends on Friday evening

The third day ends on Saturday evening.

He was raised the third day.

What kind of Sabbaths?

Wednesday to Sunday has only one weekly Sabbath and Passover is another Sabbath, then what about Friday?

The first day of Unleavened Bread has been a Sabbath since Moses. The seventh day Sabbath has been a Sabbath since creation. These two Sabbaths happened while Jesus was dead. And then there was a Sabbath associated with Unleavened Bread after Jesus was raised up.

And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread unto the LORD, seven days ye must eat Unleavened Bread. In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation, ye shall do no servile work therein. But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days, in the seventh day is an holy convocation, ye shall do no servile work therein. (Leviticus 23:6-8 KJV)

Jesus died on Nisan 14 and was entombed as the 15th began. The 15th was a Sabbath.

The women bought spices and prepared them on Friday the 16th and then rested on the weekly Sabbath, the 17th. As Sunday the 18th began Jesus was raised from the dead. The next Wednesday, the 21st, was the last Sabbath of Unleavened Bread.

We celebrate Unleavened Bread to picture taking the Bread of Life into our life.

What do you base that conclusion on?

Matthew 12:40 three days and nights, three 24 hour periods of time!

Since he was buried in the evening, he was raised 72 hours later, in the evening.

Since he was first seen on the first day of the week in the morning, he had already been raised on the day before, in the evening.

The evening of Saturday was the beginning of the third day.

and He was raised on the third day, sometime between sunset of Saturday and sunday morning.

that period of time was a night, the first part of the third day.

Up until 6pm of Saturday it was the second day.

Up until Friday 6pm was the first day.

The first day began Thursday at 6pm.

This is the only way which satisfies ALL scripture.

PS.

I think Jesus was resurrected from the dead just after Midnight, Saturday night, but before dawn would still fit.
