Government-odered compulsory childbirth for pregnant women reduces them to baby-making machines .

Oh ... because they government kidnaps and impregnates them against their will, correct?

You are implying that they do not consent to sex and the very fact that there is a good possibility they will become pregnant. With a child. A human being.

Get off of your lazy, dishonest high horse, Horn.

Times have changed. If abortions are made illegal in the US then cheap airfares coupled with availability in other places will mostly eliminate back alley abortions. But it will boost the medical trade in places like Cuba.

I seriously doubt poor women from the ghettos and barrios are going to be taking flights to other countries to have abortions.

Are you a bot?

He certainly does display the tell tale signs of bottery. Apparently pre-programmed responses, a failure directly to address the pre-existing interlocutors in the thread, etc.

But then, if you go by those criteria, you'll end up thinking most people are bots.

In point of fact, it's more likely a sign of a lack of education and average to below average general intelligence.

No, the government doesn't do this. They don't kidnap women and make them pregnant and force them to give birth . The problem is that there are too many people who are determined to make our government declare that all women who ARE pregnant ,married or not, give birth, no matter what the adverse circumstances .
Before Roe, the government DID declare that if you are pregnant, you must give birth or else. But this never worked . The law never stopped women from having abortions, nor will it if Roe V Wade becomes a thing of the past.
And don't compare this to laws allowing people to commit murder, steal or rape. This is NOT the same thing.
The government made alcohol illegal nearly a century ago, but this was absolutely futile .It's the same with abortion .

The Horn:

It's not about whether or not it's futile to stop it - we should not permit it in a civilized society. Murder is a capital offense that will happen over and over no matter how many laws we enact. People will go to prison, be executed or get away with it. But they will continue murdering, regardless. Sad fact.

actually, it wasn't - prohibition was a movement that responded to incredibly high and destructive rates of alcoholism among the lower classes - prohibition was successful in ending much of that misery, largely by pricing illicit booze beyond the reach of the poor

Another thing they fail to teach in school or anywhere. You have to dig it up yourself.

You act as though it's impossible to not become pregnant ... and that the ONLY alternative is to intentionally kill the innocent, unborn baby.

Abortions are going to happen anyway whether they are legal or not, and it is impossible to stop women from having them. If laws against abortion are effective , why do more abortions happen in countries where it is illegal than where it is legal ?
And don't cite Ireland, where despite the illegality of abortion, pregnant women routinely go to England for safe, legal ones .
If America is to do anything about abortion, it will be necessary for the government to do more to prevent them, make sure that poor women have access to contraceptives, and if they are pregnant, to make sure they will get the kind of help they need to support children .
The Obama administration has been endeavoring to do this, and the abortion rate has decreased , which is GOOD .
But if another Republican idiot is elected this November , he or she will make drastic cuts in these programs to help women, make contraceptives more expensive and difficult to get, and the abortion rate will SKYROCKET . And the GOP has the nerve to call itself "pro-life"? It's pro BIRTH, that;s all .

I already addressed this. It's not about stopping abortion, it's about saying "no."

It's very true that you cannot stop abortions and doctors can pencil-whip excuses for the D&C. In fact, women have already been counseled to have D&Cs when they were still carrying a viable pregnancy. They only discovered the error by refusing the D&C. Research points to many viable babies aborted this way.

So no, we won't stop even stop doctors from medically aborting babies by making it illegal. But we can take a stand, regardless.

Idiot right-V-left comments like this have driven me over time to see the wisdom in being apolitical.

I care not who gets elected, just that whoever is gets held accountable for their decisions.

The main abuses towards women are mostly carried out by those of the Muslim religion.

"A leading Muslim cleric and scholar who made headlines by claiming that gender equality is against Islam and women are only fit to deliver children is now hoping to spread his influence in the West with the construction of a new mosque in New Zealand."

I believe in a neuropathological basis for insanity. Sometimes a prefrontal lobotomy is the best way to deal with insane notions when those who hold then cannot be treated by conventional means,.
