Caught the second half of the A&M/Alabama game. About as expected.

The odds makers had the probable National Champs as follows:

Ohio State +275
Baylor +700
LSU +800
Michigan +950
Then TCU, Texas A&M and Alabama at 1200

Today should bump Bama a bit.

LSU is gonna get beat by Bama. LSU is lucky they escaped tonight with a win, against a back up QB. Grier's suspension more than likely will be lifted at some point this year. All they have is Fournette. This game shows the way. Let him get his yards somewhat, But harass the QB, you win. Fla didn't do that.

What a game! Very proud of @CoachMcElwain and our @GatorsFB. I'm planning to watch the rematch here in Atlanta for the SEC Championship!

Obviously USC with all their talent isn't going to get it done. The captain of the ship was a drunk and the team is a mess. Other than that, it is still Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State and undecided.

Agreed, though everyone is in love with Baylor now.

I have mixed feelings. WVU is one of those programs that wins without a long standing conference or identity. Many teams go to Morgantown and lose. Like Baylor last year. At the same time, this was the first real team, although not elite, that Baylor faced and they gave up a bunch of points and yards. Not as bad as TCU (this is why the TCU-Ole Miss game was irrelevant), but still unconvincing.

the mad hatter strikes again

I never understood why the holder is not called down immediately on a fake in college where you can't have a knee down. If his knee is down and he throws, he should be down. Or change the rules. Great call at the right time. I just don't get the rules of college football sometimes.

LSU is gonna get beat by Bama.

Florida has something they haven't had in a while. A good coach. That had a lot to do with it. But I agree. Saban and his defense don't struggle with one dimensional teams that are built on the power run game. They struggle with the wide open stuff, like Oklahoma, Ohio State last year, Auburn under Malzahn. But, that is why they play the game. LSU can match up physically, but they are one dimension.

The sad part is Ole Miss is in the driver seat and controls their own destiny.

Out west it sure seems like it comes down to the winner of Stanford and Utah in the PAC 12 title game. The winner will likely not be shut out of the playoff. This assumes there is not a melt down in league and they have a two loss champion.

And to add to the category of "that is why they play the game" FSU has to actually beat Clemson.

I just wanted to share that Pat Narduzzi trolled Penn State and James Franklin pretty well.

That was talked about quite a lot on the local sports talk shows today.

Believe it or not, there are more Penn State fans in Pittsburgh than Pitt fans.

Pitt is actually ranked #25 in the AP Top 25 today.

I can believe it. And believe that Pitt would beat many teams ranked above it because of AP shenanigans. Wisconsin is 5-2 and not ranked. Their losses are number 2 Alabama and currently underanked 7-0 Iowa.

Ole Miss is 5-2 with losses to Memphis and a no questions asked beating by Florida. But they played way over their heads and Alabama gave them 5 freebies, so therefore, rank 'em.

Speaking of the SEC....Only in the south.

That's for sure.

Back in March of 2014 I went to the Final Four in Dallas.

I sat next to (at the time) SEC Commissioner Michael Slive at a breakfast buffet.

The guy was 74 years old and had cowboy boots on that had "SEC" on them:

Both Florida and Kentucky were in that Final Four. I saw all kinds of really strange attire that weekend from SEC people.

Wisconsin and Connecticut were the other teams. The SEC people were definitely different.

There's an assumption that any team that beats a top tier SEC team must be one. The truth is that Alabama gave the game away to a team playing as well as it could. Ole Miss is a decent team, but why people read that much into the Bama game I'll never know. Don't know how to respond to the "only in the South" nonsense, so I'll give it an equal weight "Yankees" and shrug. :)

Much like those around him. I am not sure which is more disturbing. His ugly suit, or those around him that aren't even close to noticing. Outside of the south, including all Yankees and out west, the "Superfan" is often looked down on.

Its ok though. I don't think less of him. He is just....different.

I've been to enough non conference games (and don't get me started on the pros) to know that Superfans are a fairly constant plague on every institution and area. I remember the most famous sketch example of it involved "Da Bears". Do a google on Superfan and be prepared to not see a parade of Southerners in response. :)

That said, in the South college football takes on an importance that is hard to fully appreciate unless you experience it, even if it's mostly fueled by the non-graduates while people with an actual degree from the colleges involved will tend to play at it but mostly for fun.

It's the plaid and checkered suits, and other weird suits you southerners seem to have an infatuation with that separates you from everyone else.

People in the north just don't dress like this:
