I think most people will realize that dan p is the guy here who likes to throw a wet towel on the the fire of God. Jesus is the baptizer with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
The events seen in Acts 2 are special, as it was the first outpouring. However, it is not the normal operation of the Holy Spirit both in scripture after this initial infilling, and today. In fact, it contradicts the instruction of Paul. 120 people all speaking in tongues at the same time is not something Paul would endorse, but what happened on the day of Pentecost was special because it was the fulfilment of the promise of God that the Holy Spirit was now ready to be poured out on everyone. Sons, daughters, male, female, free, slaves, Jews, gentles. Everyone was now acceptable because faith was now the only requirement in the current dispensation.Everything else apart from faith was nothing with God. Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing.
The first events Acts ch 2 were for the 120.
The 3000 being saved are the norm for the church then and today.
If any of the 3000 then went on in the following of Christ as His first disciples did then they would become as the 120 did.
The 120 experienced Tabernacles and they blew trumpets.(began judging Gods House)
2Ch 5:12 Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets
2Ch 5:13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD;
2Ch 5:14 So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.
