What pastor was running?
A U.S. Senator from Texas who embraced Judeo-Christian doctrine and whose father is a pastor is about as close as the US has gotten and will ever get again when it comes to a pastor running for President.
Do me a favor and show your past posts where you supported the Presidency of Ted Cruz. No, I didn't say Ron Paul, Gary Johnson or Donald Trump, I said Ted Cruz.
Cruz has acted like a Trump lackey since Trump became president. Why do you think that is? Shouldn't Cruz know better, like you do?

I remember the 2016 Republican National Convention well. Openly homosexual/homosexual activist Peter Thiel lisping out his HATRED for the culture wars, including the common sense North Carolina 'bathroom bill' that Ted Cruz publicly endorsed and Donald Trump denounced. Thhhhiel received a standing ovation from the rainbow flag wavers attending the RNC. Ted Cruz on the other hand received boo's (and without a doubt death threats) and threats from the Republicrats for having the courage to tell his supporters to vote their conscience (back in the day when Republicans actually had a conscience).
Without a doubt Ted Cruz learned that if he doesn't goosestep to the Republicrat drum and support your rainbow flag waving President, his political career is over.
However, I do believe that Cruz voted not to confirm your boy Patrick Bumatay initially when his confirmation came up before the Senate Judiciary Committee, so he does have some semblance of conservatism left in him.

Where I live, and in my home and family 'Wife' and 'Missus' both are words for close affection. My first mention was of my 'wife', so take your attitude elsewhere.
Now......... the links stand, as do many others. You're way off on that one. Of course there is the possibility that politicians need to straddle fences, but your hot headed reply obviously doesn't allow for that, so my wife, her colleagues and friends, and myself.... we won't be listening to you. Outfits such as Stonewall have more credibility, we think.
But it's interesting to hear of senior Republican diplomats being LGBT folks.
You mention the Aids sickness. You think God sent AIDS in the same way that he sent quake and fire to Sodom and Gomorrah, eh?
Do you think He wished it for the thousands of Hemophiliacs and other folks who contracted it thru blood transfusions?
And God does seem to be supporting LGBT rights in as much as the Western World does seem to be supporting them without any intervention, as well as some Western Churches. I can only comment on what I'm seeing and hearing.......
So your points all fell on stony ground, I think.

Well....... my wife and her colleagues at work think you've lost the plot, but I am amused to discover that the present leader of the Republican movement and President of the USA does have some understanding for LGBT folks.

It seems that support for LGBT rights is much more general throughout most of the USA.

implying that countries that embrace homosexuality, i.e. sexual anarchy/moral chaos can be fiscally/economically sound. Why do you think that all of the westernized countries in Europe and here in North America (Canada) that embrace sexual perversion are socialist or socialist leaning?
