You likely have some valid points, but I am dumb enough to pay for the name. I am satisfied and am scared of Microsoft.
My half volleyball iMac was bought for the cool factor (I now have a new one for $1299, a fraction of what I have paid in the past for something much more powerful).
I am logical, but they say people buy on emotion. Guilty as charged.
e.g. I bought a Commodore Amiga when they first came out and probably paid $3000 in the 80s (including printer). I picked it over Mac (backed wrong horse) because it had 4096 colors vs black/white apple and stereo vs mono sound. It is now in the junk yard, but I kept it for years. My next computer was the original iMac half-ball and I still use it (lasted years and years). My first two computers were over-priced and like a calculator now in some ways.
