According to the sign in front of the hotel at the beginning of one episode, the ACTUAL name was Farty Towels. :chuckle:

There were twelve episodes .. Each with a different sign... :shut:

The original Bob Newhart show was pretty good. As was Taxi. I did like Dick Van Dyke but not as much as Knight did, I guess. Hard to go wrong with The Andy Griffith Show though. I will also give an honorable mention to Green Acres.

One of my recent favorites is The Big Bang Theory.
That Sheldon character cracks me up!

Do you remember a show called "Rising Damp" I consider that one of the best sit coms ever.

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace

Hysterical send-up. If you haven't seen it find an episode on youtube. :D

Also, the Mighty Boosh, especially the first series.

Indeed :thumb:

As usual with these lists I end up kicking myself over what I've left out....

The Original 'Reggie Perrin' saga starring the Same Leonard Rossiter was also brilliant,

and also 'Porridge' and 'Only Fools & Horses' for additions.

Yes!

I'm surprised you were the 1st to mention it and I was only the 2nd.

I never watch anymore (don't really watch anything) and I think they need to call it quits but that show was great back in the day. And it led the way to a bunch of the shows that we have now.

The thing is I love The Simpsons, (Especially the earlier seasons) but I've never classed it as a traditional 'sit com' so that's why I don't have it on my list. IMO an animated series is a separate entity as the space for the utterly absurd, unrealistic and actual broad scope within the genre places it apart from the 'real life' version, even though sit coms themselves are generally exaggerated to some degree for comic effect. I could never see 'The Flintstones' as a sit com either, not that it was very funny anyway.....:plain:

1. The Dick Van Dyke Show
2. The Andy Griffith Show
I KNEW I liked you for more than just truth-smacking!

3. The Office (the first 2 seasons)
Not so much for me.

Continuing:

Everybody Loves Raymond
Home Improvement (It's the grunting thing)
Batman ZoWiE! (childhood favorite, I think that has to count)
Brady Bunch (I know, I know)
Beverly Hillbillies
Congress/House-in-Session (say what? 0.o - Yeah, you are right, probably a toss up between humorous and most frustrating/irritating)
