I can just envision Christ's return to an earth that's damaged and polluted. It reminds me of the parable of the talents. God gave us the earth, if we use it to the point where it can't support us or the rest of creation, do you think God will be pleased?

Considering most of the world is gonna be worshipping the Antichrist when He comes back, I don't think He's gonna be too happy regardless.

I hope you aren't being serious with that first statement. I wouldn't say Christians are interesting in destroying the earth. It is interesting, though, that Christians seem to, by and large, side with the skeptics of climate change and other critics of environmentalism. For the global warming issue I guess part of it is that Christians don't believe God would let humans have that kind of impact on the earth.

It has nothing to do with the enviorment. It is stealing. Nothing more. Billions and billions were lost on the hoax of man made global warming. People paid carbon credits for their lifestyle. (except algore, he bought them from himself)

Earth Day is all the evidence of deception needed, said Sussman. First celebrated in 1970 on the 100th anniversary of the birth of communist leader Vladimir Lenin, it was founded by Sen. Gaylord Nelson, D-Wis.; former Stanford student-body president Denis Hayes; and author and Stanford professor Paul Ehrlich.

"Lenin's core political philosophy was linked at the hip with these newly fangled environmentalists who maintained that America's government must be altered, its economy planned and regulated, and its citizens better controlled," writes Sussman. "The environment would be the perfect tool to force these changes, and the most efficient way to gain converts would be through the public-school system – the earlier the better."

No, but I see this kind of reaction to earth day over and over again. My stepdad feels the need to constantly "subdue the earth" by hacking on and chopping at random trees for no particular reason. He also says, its okay what we do to the earth cause its all going to get destroyed some day anyway.

The problem is, we don't know when this will happen. I want my children to enjoy the trees and the water like I have.

I can just envision Christ's return to an earth that's damaged and polluted. It reminds me of the parable of the talents. God gave us the earth, if we use it to the point where it can't support us or the rest of creation, do you think God will be pleased?

By in large those that see little to no value in conservation somehow think its impossible for humans to destroy or massively damage the earth. Except history shows us that it is very possible to make regions, people and animals very sick and unusable from our own actions.

Adam was made to work the garden, not to chop down the trees, kill the animals and make a barbecue.
I would agree with a lot of this. And to go along with what you said above about the earth being destroyed anyway, there is a segment of Christianity who believes that the end is near and some seem to believe that if humans are really impacting the earth in negative ways then it's just part of the plan.

And a little off topic, but on the topic of oil, I was having a discussion a while back about oil possibly running out and the one person made a comment to the effect that God wouldn't give us oil just to have it run out. So God made sure that there would be enough oil for us.

It's beliefs like that that can be dangerous.

That and a I think general distrust of science in some quarters. Even if they don't accept the evidence of climate change, the environmental movement didn't arise for the fun of it, it was due to the results of unregulated companies causing environmental damage.

Distrust is probably part of it also. If the scientists can't get YEC right, they probably won't get climate change right either.

Knight,

Every year I celebrate Earth Day. I always cut down at least two trees. I run over fire ant mounds with my tractor until I get tired. I always pour at least one quart of oil on the ground because environmentalist say that one drop polutes 50 billion gallons of water. I shoot and eat a wild hog. And I always release some freon into the atmosphere. Then at night I get to feeling guilty, so I burn a few tires to plug up the holes I'm made in the ozone.

God bless, Tom from Mabank, TX

I really hope you've posted some or all of this as a joke.

I run over fire ant mounds with my tractor until I get tired.
Fire ants are a human generated problem, its a good thing to destroy them. I hope if you were going to dump oil on the ground, you at least dumped it on the fire ants . . .and maybe set it on fire.

I always pour at least one quart of oil on the ground because environmentalist say that one drop polutes 50 billion gallons of water.
I hope you're not drinking your own well water, or your neighbors are drinking well water etc. Because then, you're drinking your own oil and waste.

I shoot and eat a wild hog.
:thumb: Another non-native species, eat more ^_^.

And I always release some freon into the atmosphere.
Thankfully there isn't much freon left . . . .

Then at night I get to feeling guilty, so I burn a few tires to plug up the holes I'm made in the ozone.
I'm sure that's just great for you and your neighbor's health.

God bless, Tom from Mabank, TX
Talk about case in point from my original post.

I think its more to do with right wing people who are so anti left they take great delight in anything the left dont like.

Thus polution, destruction and over consumption become good or at least 'funny'.

Also its also a reaction against those 'green pagan people' who have made good stewardship and sense about earth worship.

On your final point;

If you read the bible you actually see that God gave us dominion over the earth, I guess that includes the abaility to break it.

I hope you aren't being serious with that first statement. I wouldn't say Christians are interesting in destroying the earth. So, why are so many Christians more interested in destroying creation rather than enjoying and appreciating what God has given to us?

Earth day isn't about worshiping the earth, its about appreciating and caring for what we've been blessed with . . . You know that "stewardship" thing . . . .

I remember the time I tried to start the whole "Moon Day" thing going...

Probably should have given the ramifications of that one a little more thought. :plain: (shudders)

I completely forgot about Earth Day. But why set aside one day to conserve, recycle and such when you make efforts to do that every day.

I don't know why some folks here feel the need to mock those of use who "go green," it saves me a heap of money.
