196:0.5 "Theology may fix, formulate, define, and dogmatize faith, but in the human life of Jesus faith was personal, living, original, spontaneous, and purely spiritual. This faith was not reverence for tradition nor a mere intellectual belief which he held as a sacred creed, but rather a sublime experience and a profound conviction which securely held him. His faith was so real and all- encompassing that it absolutely swept away any spiritual doubts and effectively destroyed every conflicting desire. Nothing was able to tear him away from the spiritual anchorage of this fervent, sublime, and undaunted faith. Even in the face of apparent defeat or in the throes of disappointment and threatening despair, he calmly stood in the divine presence free from fear and fully conscious of spiritual invincibility. Jesus enjoyed the invigorating assurance of the possession of unflinching faith, and in each of life’s trying situations he unfailingly exhibited an unquestioning loyalty to the Father’s will. And this superb faith was undaunted even by the cruel and crushing threat of an ignominious death."

SERMON ON THE KINGDOM

137:8.1 On Sabbath, June 22, shortly before they went out on their first preaching tour and about ten days after John's imprisonment, Jesus occupied the synagogue pulpit for the second time since bringing his apostles to Capernaum.

137:8.2 A few days before the preaching of this sermon on “The Kingdom,” as Jesus was at work in the boatshop, Peter brought him the news of John's arrest. Jesus laid down his tools once more, removed his apron, and said to Peter: “The Father's hour has come. Let us make ready to proclaim the gospel of the kingdom.”

137:8.3 Jesus did his last work at the carpenter bench on this Tuesday, June 18, A.D. 26. Peter rushed out of the shop and by midafternoon had rounded up all of his associates, and leaving them in a grove by the shore, he went in quest of Jesus. But he could not find him, for the Master had gone to a different grove to pray. And they did not see him until late that evening when he returned to Zebedee's house and asked for food. The next day he sent his brother James to ask for the privilege of speaking in the synagogue the coming Sabbath day. And the ruler of the synagogue was much pleased that Jesus was again willing to conduct the service.

137:8.4 Before Jesus preached this memorable sermon on the kingdom of God, the first pretentious effort of his public career, he read from the Scriptures these passages: “You shall be to me a kingdom of priests, a holy people. Yahweh is our judge, Yahweh is our lawgiver, Yahweh is our king; he will save us. Yahweh is my king and my God. He is a great king over all the earth. Loving-kindness is upon Israel in this kingdom. Blessed be the glory of the Lord for he is our King.”

137:8.5 When he had finished reading, Jesus said:

137:8.6 “I have come to proclaim the establishment of the Father's kingdom. And this kingdom shall include the worshiping souls of Jew and gentile, rich and poor, free and bond, for my Father is no respecter of persons; his love and his mercy are over all.

137:8.7 “The Father in heaven sends his spirit to indwell the minds of men, and when I shall have finished my work on earth, likewise shall the Spirit of Truth be poured out upon all flesh. And the spirit of my Father and the Spirit of Truth shall establish you in the coming kingdom of spiritual understanding and divine righteousness. My kingdom is not of this world. The Son of Man will not lead forth armies in battle for the establishment of a throne of power or a kingdom of worldly glory. When my kingdom shall have come, you shall know the Son of Man as the Prince of Peace, the revelation of the everlasting Father. The children of this world fight for the establishment and enlargement of the kingdoms of this world, but my disciples shall enter the kingdom of heaven by their moral decisions and by their spirit victories; and when they once enter therein, they shall find joy, righteousness, and eternal life.

137:8.8 “Those who first seek to enter the kingdom, thus beginning to strive for a nobility of character like that of my Father, shall presently possess all else that is needful. But I say to you in all sincerity: Unless you seek entrance into the kingdom with the faith and trusting dependence of a little child, you shall in no wise gain admission.

137:8.9 “Be not deceived by those who come saying here is the kingdom or there is the kingdom, for my Father's kingdom concerns not things visible and material. And this kingdom is even now among you, for where the spirit of God teaches and leads the soul of man, there in reality is the kingdom of heaven. And this kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

137:8.10 “John did indeed baptize you in token of repentance and for the remission of your sins, but when you enter the heavenly kingdom, you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.

137:8.11 “In my Father's kingdom there shall be neither Jew nor gentile, only those who seek perfection through service, for I declare that he who would be great in my Father's kingdom must first become server of all. If you are willing to serve your fellows, you shall sit down with me in my kingdom, even as, by serving in the similitude of the creature, I shall presently sit down with my Father in his kingdom.

137:8.12 “This new kingdom is like a seed growing in the good soil of a field. It does not attain full fruit quickly. There is an interval of time between the establishment of the kingdom in the soul of man and that hour when the kingdom ripens into the full fruit of everlasting righteousness and eternal salvation.

137:8.13 “And this kingdom which I declare to you is not a reign of power and plenty. The kingdom of heaven is not a matter of meat and drink but rather a life of progressive righteousness and increasing joy in the perfecting service of my Father who is in heaven. For has not the Father said of his children of the world, `It is my will that they should eventually be perfect, even as I am perfect.'

137:8.14 “I have come to preach the glad tidings of the kingdom. I have not come to add to the heavy burdens of those who would enter this kingdom. I proclaim the new and better way, and those who are able to enter the coming kingdom shall enjoy the divine rest. And whatever it shall cost you in the things of the world, no matter what price you may pay to enter the kingdom of heaven, you shall receive manyfold more of joy and spiritual progress in this world, and in the age to come eternal life.

137:8.15 “Entrance into the Father's kingdom waits not upon marching armies, upon overturned kingdoms of this world, nor upon the breaking of captive yokes. The kingdom of heaven is at hand, and all who enter therein shall find abundant liberty and joyous salvation.

137:8.16 “This kingdom is an everlasting dominion. Those who enter the kingdom shall ascend to my Father; they will certainly attain the right hand of his glory in Paradise. And all who enter the kingdom of heaven shall become the sons of God, and in the age to come so shall they ascend to the Father. And I have not come to call the would-be righteous but sinners and all who hunger and thirst for the righteousness of divine perfection.

137:8.17 “John came preaching repentance to prepare you for the kingdom; now have I come proclaiming faith, the gift of God, as the price of entrance into the kingdom of heaven. If you would but believe that my Father loves you with an infinite love, then you are in the kingdom of God.”

137:8.18 When he had thus spoken, he sat down. All who heard him were astonished at his words. His disciples marveled. But the people were not prepared to receive the good news from the lips of this God-man. About one third who heard him believed the message even though they could not fully comprehend it; about one third prepared in their hearts to reject such a purely spiritual concept of the expected kingdom, while the remaining one third could not grasp his teaching, many truly believing that he “was beside himself.”

Historicity or mythology?.........

Historicity or mythology?.........

How about doing some real research traditional robot!!

Hi Zeke,

I'm pretty liberal myself ya know, and do research on historical claims for Jesus and other more skeptical even agnostic viewpoints. However, you do know that celestials that indited the papers using human knowledge and plentary sources confirm that Jesus was an actual historical figure as far as the records go, so it accepts the biblical record as far as its been accurately recorded, claims to make some corrections and expand on the greater cosmological truths of the Christ-revelation, and so forth. I would think then that the UB accepts the historical claims of Jesus being an actual person who incarnated on this planet around the customary time given, and the rest is history more or less ;)

On a more skeptical note:

Of course we can still draw allergorical and esoteric truths from the story of Jesus even if mythological to whatever degree, but there is so much more import here for our current time and implementing what Jesus the Christ means and what value his teachings have for humanity. Its truly a wonderful journey. Also interesting is those who question the historicity of the apostle Paul or if he was a combination of personalities merged together to form one person, as this is also assumed to be the case of Jesus too, if there are actual historical figures being used and mythological ones woven into these figures,....its all a wonderful study. In the meantime we have the teachings themselves to consider and put to the test as to their authenticity, so our own divine guidance and spiritual research is key here, as the Spirit of truth leads and guides.

do you understand that the good news is who Jesus was and what He did -
not what He taught -
Jesus is God and He suffered and died so that we might live -
do you get that?

I'm quite cognizant that that is a traditional-orthodox belief, more along the lines of Paul's gospel but with added elements grafted in thru the evolution of Church doctrine. The gospel of the kingdom that Jesus taught however is a bit different and it is accentuated and expanded on in the UB Part 4, an example being shared here just previously (sermon on the kingdom) if you're interested. - the teachings of Jesus speak for themselves, and you cant have 'Jesus' without his teachings, the words he spoke from his Father. They go hand in hand ;) - beyond what 'blood atonement' concepts were later imposed upon Jesus to make him a sacrificial lamb.

My note to Zeke was clear enough, that the UB builds upon the historicity of Jesus and his story/teachings from the gospels, and presents who Jesus is in new cosmological context and understanding, the UB being the planets '5th Ephochal Revelation'.

As far as Jesus being 'God', we've debated that elsewhere, as in there being both Unitarian and Trinitarian belief-systems in Christianity. It just so happens if you have been following this thread or have any knowledge of the UB, that Jesus is our ' Creator Son ' and is the Creator of our local and extended universe, so in this sense within the greater hierarchy, Jesus is our 'God' and 'father', but he is not The Universal Father who is the First Source and Center of all that exists, from which all else springs. The 'Creator Sons' are divine Sons that emenate forth from The Father and are creators of the worlds of space and time, there are many Creator Sons. It just so happens that Jesus is the Creator Son of our universe. The Grand Universe is a Universe that has many smaller universes within it, and there are still 'outer space' levels beyond the regions of inhabited pace.

Christianity is the product of a the justification of (sacrifice minded Jews) leaving their religion to follow Jesus. The original pre-cross "good news" was replaced by post-cross speculation that Jesus was a sacrifice for sins. Man finds it difficult to sincerely face his sins, repent, receive and bestow forgiveness.

Theoretical sacrificial atonement theory became a substitute which the masses could get behind.

141:6.4 That night Jesus discoursed to the apostles on the new life in the kingdom. He said in part: “When you enter the kingdom, you are reborn. You cannot teach the deep things of the spirit to those who have been born only of the flesh; first see that men are born of the spirit before you seek to instruct them in the advanced ways of the spirit. Do not undertake to show men the beauties of the temple until you have first taken them into the temple. Introduce men to God and as the sons of God before you discourse on the doctrines of the fatherhood of God and the sonship of men. Do not strive with men—always be patient. It is not your kingdom; you are only ambassadors. Simply go forth proclaiming: This is the kingdom of heaven—God is your Father and you are his sons, and this good news, if you wholeheartedly believe it, is your eternal salvation.

History is being corrected Chrysostom, we are living in the correcting times. Like it or not it's a fact, Jesus taught the Gospel of "The Kingdom of Heaven", for 3+ years before being betrayed by one of his own and apprehended. It was the religion of Jesus. The chosen Jews rejected that original gospel, but the Pagan Roman world was found to be receptive to a modified version of the original; a religion about Jesus as a sacrifice, sacrifice was already familiar to the Pagans ALL around the globe!

* Had the Jews believed in Jesus and his original gospel, salvation by faith in the realization of sonship, they would be teaching that today from Jerusalem. Jesus would have simply translated back to his place on high, no theoretical sacrifice and proof of life after death needed.

138:6.3 Jesus endeavored to make clear to his apostles the difference between his teachings and his life among them and the teachings which might subsequently spring up about him. Said Jesus: “My kingdom and the gospel related thereto shall be the burden of your message. Be not sidetracked into preaching about me and about my teachings. Proclaim the gospel of the kingdom and portray my revelation of the Father in heaven but do not be misled into the bypaths of creating legends and building up a cult having to do with beliefs and teachings about my beliefs and teachings.” But again they did not understand why he thus spoke, and no man dared to ask why he so taught them. it has been 2000 years -
how are you doing?

I'm doing great! And the gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven is still a work in progress, it will eventually be proclaimed to all the world. Jesus knew it would take time and that it would be a long time before he returned for a visit.

what is that?
please no links and just a few words

41:4.2 (1590.5) In answer to Thomas’s question, “Who is this God of the kingdom?” Jesus replied: “God is your Father, and religion — my gospel — is nothing more nor less than the believing recognition of the truth that you are his son. And I am here among you in the flesh to make clear both of these ideas in my life and teachings.”

* The Gospel is the truth of personal sonship with God. In Jesus' day people tended towards the belief in a national deity as opposed to a personal God, that we are all in the family of God. We are already Loved by our father, we don't earn it any more than we do our own earth parents.

* The Kingdom ideal is simply the invisible spiritual fellowship of believers in the Fatherhood of God and brotherhood of ALL mankind. Unfortunately, the visible, institutional church became a distracting replacement. It became the re-Sanhedrin.
