Quite a ways off before this will happen. Obama's trade plan includes a provision allowing for $100 of tobacco products to be brought back to the US by "licensed" travelers.i wonder if Cuban cigars will be legal and available in the US or if they can be brought back when travel opens up - has anyone heard details about Cuba ?
Pre-embargo cigars can be had for ridiculous prices. Last pre-embargo I smoked ran me about $125 and was not a good smoke. Bought it at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco about ten years ago. They had a cigar smoke shop in the hotel...a small room with a fancy air filtration system. Don't know if that still exists given all the anti-smoking laws within California.
I have smoked some Cubans legally in other countries when I was a world traveler. None of them, except a Montecristo No. 2 I smoked in Barcelona, met my expectations.
Not all Cuban cigars are better than some of the better cigars available in the US, e.g., Padron's anniversary sticks.
