All of us are born with hearts as hard as stone, and until and unless the Holy Spirit gives us new hearts with which to believe, there is no faith nor trust in God or His Gospel of Grace.
We won't receive the Holy Spirit unless we repent and believe the gospel, God does not bless those who do not believe in him. And we are not made to believe we have a choice, believe in Jesus and the gospel or not.
Also Jesus said
Mark 1
Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,*And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand:
repent ye, and believe the gospel
Luke 13
There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.*And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?*I tell you, Nay:
but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.*Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?*I tell you, Nay:
but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
And Peter said in Acts 3
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you
So we as I said, I believe that we have a choice, repent and believe, or not. We are not made to believe, we are not robots, we have freewill and we have to choose. As Joshua said, choose you this day whom you will serve.
