Luke 3:22 KJV
After 30 yrs of "childhood"; after 30 years of being tutored in the ways of His Father, and when God announced Jesus to the world, what did God call Him?
Couldn't agree more!
And on that is the issue that John is dealing with - though John and his fellows were given power to become the sons of God, John 1:12 - it is not complete, as their nation - Israel's - is a
corporate sonship and is yet future - thus; the constant reference to them as "children."
Exodus 4:
22. And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
23. And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
Matthew 13:
36. Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
37. He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
38. The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
39. The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
40. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
41. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
42. And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Acts 3:
23. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
24. Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.
25. Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
26. Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.
Whereas the Body, being that it is
in Christ is "no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ," Gal. 4: 7... all that awaits is that other aspect of the equation - "the redemption of our body, Rom. 8:23... "Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself," Philip. 3:21...and with that, our sonship then matching "unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ" Eph. 4: 13...of His Sonship.
