That's what the Bible says. Why do you reject it?
That's what Paul, in the Bible, says. Why do you reject it?
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
Striking out what I say won't make it go away, GT.
The BIBLE SAYS that we are to place our trust in CHRIST'S faith, not our own.
The BIBLE SAYS that Paul destroyed the church.
The BIBLE SAYS that Paul claims we do not have to do anything to earn our salvation. We need simply to place our trust in the faithfulness of Christ.
Not of the works of the law---like CIRCUMCISION.
Circumcision came before the law, and is therefore a synecdoche of it.
Have you never read through Genesis?
Read now Ephesians Scripture 11 Paul says, “Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision”…
And?
He's making a distinction between two groups where you say there is none.
Paul immediately starts speaking of the works of the Jews---circumcision.
Right, because "circumcison" is a synechdoche for the law.
Preaching the gospel to the uncircumcised was given to Paul because the Jews didn't trust him. DUH
Well, no, that was only part of it.
Go read what God said to Paul in Acts 9:15. That's the reason Paul went to the uncircumcised.
Acts 20:21 I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.
Which is exactly what I said.
There ARE however, verses where Paul says to "repent and turn toward God," which is NOT talking about individual sins, but to turn away from a life of sin. In other words, the verses that you will claim to say that they teach repenting of sin are in fact talking about turning away from sinning in general NOT individual sins, and turning towards God to live for Him, instead of living for one's flesh. |
You aren't speaking the truth!
Saying it doesn't make it so.
These scriptures are of Paul saying to prove REPENTANCE BY YOUR DEEDS, and in another scripture he says REPENT OF IMPURITY, and SEXUAL SINS.
Again, repenting from a life of sin fits exactly what I said, and has NOTHING to do with one's salvation, except that it comes AFTER one is saved.
Acts 26:20 First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that they should
repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.
2 Corinthians 12:21 I am afraid that when I come again my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged.
You done cherry-picking yet? Especially after I've explained the verses to you?
Nowhere does that say Paul destroyed the church.
Are you blind or something?
What part of "and was destroying it" do you not understand?
He was trying to destroy it.
Saying it doesn't make it so.
Did you notice that in many versions of the Bible, the words "trying to" are italicized?
Do you know what that means?
It means that those words are not in the manuscripts, and were added by the translators.
It means that their bias of the text has crept into the modern text.
The Greek says that Paul was destroying the church, and RD provided other verses where Paul himself claimed to have destroyed it, past tense. Paul overseeing Stephen being martyred was part of that destruction of the church.
I'm going to believe what the Bible says, which is that Paul destroyed the church if Israel, but that God started a NEW church with Paul being the first convert.
Liar.
that he did destroy the church!
Because the Bible says so. Why do you reject what the Bible says, GT?
I can hardly believe you say something so wrong and bad.
That's because you're the one who's on the wrong side of the Bible.
Tell us, GT, why do you reject plain scripture in favor of your own beliefs?
Even the gates of hell couldn't overcome the church,
No, that's not what Jesus said.
He said that the gates of Hell could not stand AGAINST it.
He said nothing about it being destroyed from within.
but you think Paul destroyed it?
That's what the Bible says, repeatedly.
