Repentance in the matter of Gospel Preaching !

Repentance in the matter of Gospel message is a Salvation Gift, its an Spiritual act that can be performed only by the Spiritual man or woman, the natural man in the state of nature cant perform it, neither is called to perform it. Remember John the Baptist told the hard hearted Pharisees that came to him while performing the baptism of repentance ? Notice his words TO THEM Matt 3:7-9

7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

However, Jesus teaches this Matt 7:18

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

Repentance toward God Acts 20:21

Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thats a Good Fruit, and such that are left in nature cant bring it forth, simply because the natural man is evil and corrupt !

Thats right those in the flesh, the natural man, cant please God Rom 8:8

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Simply stated the unregenerate cant please God !

Exactly! Unless a person has been first Made Spiritually Alive in New Birth, he remains a natural man. And so all his own works of the flesh and mind, in his attempt to come to God, are likened to filthy rags in God's Sight Is. 64:6.

Therefore, True Fath and Repentance [Gr. metanoia] denotes a change of Mind, a change in the Inner Man: Evidence of the Working of the Spirit of God in a person, as a result of them having been already Redeemed by the Blood of Christ; His Church Eph. 5:25.

Scripture that confirms that Jesus Christ as Saviour gives His People repentance, by blessing them and turning them from their sins Acts 3:25-26

25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

What has He, this gift, turned you away from?

Acts 17:30 (NKJV)
30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,“

Repentance is a gift...so is the breath of life...does it mean we do nothing now?

After having repented?

What have turned from...even today?

Those Jesus Christ is a Saviour to, [God's Elect Luke 18:7; Gal.4:6, the Seed of Abraham Gal. 3:16, 29], He is The Author and Giver of Repentance / a turning away Acts 3:26, or a changing of direction and Mind; Working His Powerful Grace in them, and restoring the Intimacy and Fellowship He had with each and every one of them Prov. 8:30-31 even before they are born in time, and become Born Again John 3:3 !

Repentance belongs to the Work of Jesus Christ, its the fruit of His redeeming death/blood.

Ok then what? How are you different from what you were...if you arent maybe you didnt need the gift?

How does HIS work in you change how you live...? If it doesnt maybe you didnt need Him to work in you?

Oh bravo!!! So describe this turning away and from what and to what....this changing of direction and Mind from what it was to what it is now...

Are you more like Him or less...are you more like your former self or less...

What has this gift repented you of?

To what has this repentance restored you to? His ways? the world’s, our own?

Do you live as He did demonstrating and teaching His Way...as His last will and testament...now anything differing THAT LIFE HIS WAY is NOT repentance right?

Restored to that time when grace was given even before the Fall right? A day of rest from labor provided even prior the fall...what grace indeed...

Describe that change of the inner man...the Mind...that evidence of the inner working He performs...

Does it look more like Him as He lived or like your former self...

Are we restored to that time we were made in His IMAGE His likeness...NOT to LOOK LIKE but to LIVE LIKE...HAVE THE SAME CHARACTER AND DESIRES...

In that turning away what are we turned TO?

Him HIS WAY? Or merely to continue as we were and depend on His grace...and crying out LORD! LORD!

Once we hear the holy commandment do we turn back to our own vomit like a dog? Or follow Him as He lived?

All you are talking about is man centered, this thread is Christ centered, based on what Hes done. Lets read post 44. Who gets the credit for turning away people from their sins ?

Already covered that...He does OF COURSE and duh...He gets ALLLLLLLLLLL the credit ok?

but now answer my question...what does that turned away people do? or NOT do?

Do the LIVE like they are IN HIM...CHRIST CENTERED or just continue like before?...how do others KNOW they are IN HIM...do they see the turned away people doing HIS WAY or like the world?

You know ONCE SAVED...NOW WHAT?

What do the fruit of the saved look like? Just like Him HIS WAYS...more like it was before the fall? Or less?

And for how long?...for HOW LONG are these turned away people turned away?

until the feel good music stops and the window washing hands are lowered after Sunday power hours or on Tuesday too...Friday too?

Are these turned away people turned away for a few exciting years of tongue speaking or is it a walk the rest of their life...a race to finish...to persevere...overcome daily...turned away daily...or just that one time...

The point of the thread is answered. Christ gets the credit for causing men to repent, because its part of His Saving Work of saving sinners. Now to go beyond this point is a rabbit trail.

In light of repentance being of Christ and His Saving prerogative, it's not scriptural to make it a condition for sinners to perform in order to get saved.

Amen Brother, God doesn't want the non-elect goats to repent of their sins, for He Created them as Vessels of Wrath and is fitting them for destruction per Rom. 9:22; Mat. 25:41.

Repentance is only in view of remission of sins Luke 24:47 given to those Christ died for, His Sheep John 10:11; 15 !

Just because the way is straight and narrow does not make it a rabbit trail...

This “rabbit trail” is exactly the gospel His are to imitate and apply to their lives as a witness and testimony to what was repented them of...that gift given to them...DONE BY HIM ALONE...

Yup the good works we are to perform...to overcome to persevere to hear “well DONE good and FAITHFUL servent”...

You have to answer what that path known as “the Way” looks like for the believer the one SAVED...

And for this instance I will allow even predestined for...the path for the chosen determined elected from before the world was formed...

What do your fruits look like...you the only ones He died for

Describe that path...what you were repented from...to be LESS like what you used to be (and the world around you which was selected predestined created to die and be tormented forever...)and more like what you were selected to DO...now that you are saved by Him...once and forever SEALED and unable to fail or fall or lose your salvation what does that look like?

Can you commit adultery? Can you steal? Can you murder? Can you lie? Well that one ...Obviously...

Can YOU please describe the repented elected lifestyle...given to only those Christ died for?

Are you more like those made to be tormented forever and NOT as you say “fit for destruction” as destruction is a completion...a finality...but you actually believe they are created to be forever in the process of being destroyed...as He is continually destroying those He created to TORMENT FOREVER and for that which they could not chose as they were created by Him to do so...so He could torture them forever...

So please describe the life of the elected repented...

DUH...by Faith...faith first but NOT ALONE...faith compels works...

Sinners repented perform works AFTER being saved...out of sheer gratitude they WANT to...

His works and as He did and asked of those He elected to save...

Please describe those works the elected non goats do...thanks...
