Do you still believe in reincarnation?

do you go to church on sunday?

it is an honest question

First guy says to the second, "You like football?"
The second guy says, "Does the Pope have a big hat?"

Well, in Chrys's defense, I didn't know what you meant either. Initially, I didn't think you meant yes or no. I'm actually still not sure what you meant. After the last post, I think you meant yes, but I'm not sure. But unlike Chrys (I think), I don't really care.

Interesting. I mean that you'd think of defending him.

I wonder if most read it and wondered, but there you go. You never really know how people are going to read anything that isn't Hemmingway.

Really. I thought the joke gave it away.

In this case it was a way of setting out my answer while demanding a quid pro quo. I thought it was funny that someone who I believed holds a very unorthodox opinion as an article of faith would seem to find something objectionable in the potential of another unorthodox opinion/approach.

If he'd have asked me a while back he'd have gotten a different response. I almost never attended church, post conversion.

But unlike Chrys (I think), I don't really care.
I don't know why he does either. :idunno:

I guess the "Is the Pope Catholic?" as an alternative response to chrys' question would have resonated with him. But then again... ;)

Well,...I just couldn't sit back and let these prescribed 'programs' take off with a life of their own.....without some 'qualifications' :)

(mind you I had both a thread on Historical Unitarianism and Arianism within a Christian theological perspective, but my spirituality embraces a truly universalist perspective....not just limited to Christian Universalism, but universal truth itself, being shared and described in most all religious traditions as the 'perennial wisdom').

For those familiar with my eclectic theology, I might be considered 'unitarian' only in that I'm cognizant of the difference and relational distinction between the Universal Father the man Jesus, and that 'God' is the Father-Mother of all sentient beings (souls) that inhabit all dimensions in space-time. 'God' is the One and Only Infinite Source of all, a singular essence of plural expression. This 'God' is the one and only absolute reality, the primal Unit from which all else springs or is dependent upon for its existence.

We might also add, that being a 'unitarian' can also take on a more liberal nuance as in the modern definition or offshoot of 'Unitarian-universalist', so that it is not just a 'viewpoint' in contra-distinction to traditional Trinitarianism, but more liberally accepts that God is the Universal One originating and pervading all. In this cosmic-universal sense, I'm 'unitarian', understanding what it means in its essence and relational context, not just within a Christian theological context, but a universal one.
Unitarian views that are more 'Christological' in nature and limited to the bible are held by what we may call 'biblical' or 'Christian' Unitarians. Otherwise, the more liberal 'Unitarian-universalists' are quite tolerant and accepting of many different religious traditions/points of view.

I'll also add that I asked Knight to put 'Unitarian-Universalist' as an option of 'religious affiliation' in our profile, but no response has so far been afforded. He did make 'Other' available at my inquiry, although some might find that rather 'vague'. Extending religious affilliations options would be more accommodating to members of the forum.

I've also chosen 'pagan' and 'hindu' as affiliations for brief periods, as some of my views are consonant with such philosophically, and as a mystic and student of occult science (with gnostic tendencies) I lean towards a grounding in eastern wisdom schools, including western as well...of course. Truth is universal, although described or explained thru various symbols, myths, metaphors and language.
