:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

The glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:6

:poly:

The Savior’s Face

How sweet, O Lord, Thy word of grace
Which bids a sinner seek Thy face,
And never seek in vain;
That face, once set so steadfastly
To meet Thy cross of agony,
Can never me disdain.

Thy visage, marred and crowned with thorn,
Thou didst not hide from grief and scorn,
Nor from the dew of night;
Yet, in that face a love appears
Which scatters all my gloomy fears,
And fills my soul with light.

The heavens declare Thy power and love;
In all Thy works, below, above,
Thy majesty I trace,
But mercy shines not in the skies,
And hope within my spirit dies,
Until I see Thy face.

The brightness of Thy glory, Lord,
Fills Heaven and earth and written Word
With beams of heavenly grace;
But all the hosts of Heaven shine
With no such radiance divine
As Thy most blessed face.

:poly:

For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face.
Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

1 Corinthians 13:12

Face to Face With Christ My Savior

Face to face with Christ, my Savior,
Face to face what will it be,
When with rapture I behold Him,
Jesus Christ who died for me?
Face to face I shall behold Him,
Far beyond the starry sky;
Face to face in all His glory,
I shall see Him by and by!

To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul.
Psalm 25:1
O God, You are my God; early will I seek You.
Psalm 63:1
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD;
In the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up.

This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

Sunday Morning Praise

I With Thee Would Begin

I with Thee would begin, O my Savior so dear,
On the way that I still must pursue;
I with Thee would begin every day granted here,
As my earnest resolve I renew
To be and remain Thine forever.

I with Thee would begin and go forth in Thy name,
Which alone doth salvation bestow;
Fold me close to Thy breast where found joy all who came,
There is refuge for me, too, I know,
Though all in this world is confusion.

Let Thy Word all divine be my lamp in whose light
I may constantly keep to Thy way;
And each day wouldst Thou cleanse me anew, make me white
In the blood shed for me on that day
The cross Thou didst suffer, Lord Jesus.

I with Thee would begin — yea, and hear one more prayer,
I would close with Thee, too, my brief day,
And when daylight has failed, let me sleep in Thy care,
Until waking Thy child Thou dost say,
“Come, live with Me ever in Heaven.”

:poly:

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

Be Not Anxious

I cannot change the yesterday when I mistrusted Thee,
Though all my fears unfounded proved, and shame me now as then;
I cannot promise that my faith will last throughout the night,
Or that, when Thy tomorrow comes, I will not doubt again.
But grant, O faithful Lord and true, that I may trust Thee now,
Just now, each moment of each hour of this Thy present day;
That, looking backward, I may read the record of the past,
And, forward, see Thy steadfast word light all the future way.

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

You shall not be afraid of the terror by night.
Psalm 91:5

He who keeps you will not slumber...The LORD is your keeper.
Psalm 121:3, 5

:poly:

Before the Ending of the Day

Before the ending of the day,
Creator of the world, we pray
That Thou with wonted love wouldst keep
Thy watch around us while we sleep.

O let no evil dreams be near,
Nor phantoms of the night appear;
Our ghostly enemy restrain,
Lest aught of sin our bodies stain.

Almighty Father, hear our cry
Through Jesus Christ our Lord most high,
Who with the Holy Ghost and Thee
Doth live and reign eternally.

:poly:

When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.

Proverbs 3:24

The Day Has Ended

The day is ended. Ere I sink to sleep...
My weary spirit seeks repose in Thine;
Father, forgive my trespasses, keep this life of mine.
With loving kindness curtain Thou my bed,
And cool in rest my burning pilgrim feet,
Thy pardon be the pillow for my head
So shall my rest be sweet.

Praise the Lord!

Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Matthew 6:34

My grace is sufficient for you.
2 Corinthians 12:9

:poly:

The Two Sufficients

Evil shall pass with the day that brought it,
As the sea is stayed by the barrier land;
When the Giver of good shall say, "No farther,"
And bid the foeman restrain his hand;
But the grace of the Lord outstays the evil,
Outlasts the darkness, outruns the morn,
Out watches the stars in their nightly vigil;
And the foe that returns with the day reborn,
As he left it unwearied, shall find it unworn.

:poly:

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;
For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 23:4

For Thou Art With Me

I know not when I go, nor where,
From this familiar scene;
But Christ is here and He is there
And all the way between;
And, when I pass from all I know
To that dim, vast unknown,
Though late I stay, or soon I go,
I shall not go alone.

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

He said to them,
When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?”
So they said, “Nothing.”

Luke 22:35
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Matthew 6:34

:poly:

Step by Step

When the shadows thickly gather,
Clouding all thy onward way,
Think not what shall be tomorrow;
Seek God’s help just for today.

Should the coming days bring burdens,
Or be fraught with grief or care,
Trust Him in the hour of trial,
He will make thee strong to bear.

Daily strength He ever giveth,
For each day rich grace bestows;
And each morrow, as it dawneth,
Still His lovingkindness shows.

Then why should we shrink or falter
When the onward path looks dim,
Knowing light will never fail us
While we walk by faith with Him?

Step by step He leads me onward,
Step by step the way reveals;
But what in the future lieth,
In His mercy He conceals.

:poly:

Lord, I will follow You.
Luke 9:61

I will follow Thee

I will follow Thee, my Savior,
Wheresoe’er my lot may be.
Where Thou goest I will follow;
Yes, my Lord, I’ll follow Thee.
I will follow Thee, my Savior,
Thou didst shed Thy blood for me;
And though all men should forsake me,
By Thy grace I’ll follow Thee.

Praise the Lord!

Be anxious for nothing.
Philippians 4:6

:poly:

Constantly Abiding

There’s a peace in my heart that the world never gave,
A peace it cannot take away;
Though the trials of life may surround like a cloud,
I’ve a peace that has come here to stay!

All the world seemed to sing of a Savior and king,
When peace sweetly came to my heart;
Troubles all fled away and my night turned to day,
Blessed Jesus, how glorious Thou art!

This treasure I have in a temple of clay,
While here on His footstool I roam;
But He’s coming to take me some glorious day,
Over there to my heavenly home!

Constantly abiding, Jesus is mine;
Constantly abiding, rapture divine;
He never leaves me lonely, whispers, O so kind:
“I will never leave thee,” Jesus is mine.

Philippians 4:7

The Peace Which God Alone Reveals

The peace which God alone reveals,
and by His word of grace imparts,
Which only the believer feels, direct and keep,
and cheer your hearts.
And may the holy Trinity,
The Father, Son, and Comforter,
Pour an abundant blessing on believer here!

…that no man take your crown.
Revelation 3:11

:poly:

Let Someone Else!

Let someone else! you often say, when asked to serve the Lord;
And someone else, when life is o’er, will reap a rich reward.
Oh, someone else is doing the work that you for God should do;
And someone else will be wearing the crown that God had meant for you.

Let someone else speak forth the word to save a soul from sin;
That someone else, when Jesus comes, a crown of life will win.
Oh, someone else is doing the work that you for God should do;
And someone else will be wearing the crown that God had meant for you.

Let someone else go forth, you say, to lands beyond the seas;
While you remain at home and take your comfort and your ease.
Oh, someone else is doing the work that you for God should do;
And someone else will be wearing the crown that God had meant for you.

Oh, never let your lips again those thoughtless words repeat;
But pray that grace to you be giv’n to serve at Jesus’ feet.
Then no one else will do the work that you for God should do;
And no one else will be wearing the crown that God has kept for you.

And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves. Mark 11:13

Nothing But Leaves!

Nothing but leaves! The Spirit grieves o’er years of wasted life;
O’er sins indulged while conscience slept, o’er vows and promises unkept,
And reap, from years of strife Nothing but leaves!
Ah, who shall thus the Master meet, and bring but withered leaves?
Ah, who shall, at the Savior’s feet, before the awful judgment seat,
Lay down, for golden sheaves, nothing but leaves!

He that wins souls is wise.
Proverbs 11:30

:poly:

Give Me a Passion for Souls

Give me a passion for souls, dear Lord,
A passion to save the lost;
O that Thy love were by all adored,
And welcomed at any cost.

Though there are dangers untold and stern
Confronting me in the way,
Willingly still would I go, nor turn,
But trust Thee for grace each day.

How shall this passion for souls be mine?
Lord, make Thou the answer clear;
Help me to throw out the old life line
To those who are struggling near.

Jesus, I long, I long to be winning
Men who are lost, and constantly sinning;
O may this hour be one of beginning
The story of pardon to tell.

:poly:

He who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death
and cover a multitude of sins.

James 5:20

Lord, Lay Some Soul Upon my Heart

Lord, lay soul upon my heart,
And love that soul through me;
And may I bravely do my part
To win that soul for Thee;
This is my earnest plea,
Help me each day, on life’s highway,
To win some soul for Thee.

When the enemy comes in like a flood,
The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him
.
Isaiah 59:19

:poly:

Sound the Battle Cry!

Sound the battle cry! See, the foe is nigh;
Raise the standard high for the Lord;
Gird your armor on, stand firm every one;
Rest your cause upon His holy Word.

Strong to meet the foe, marching on we go,
While our cause we know, must prevail;
Shield and banner bright, gleaming in the light,
Battling for the right we ne’er can fail.

O! Thou God of all, hear us when we call,
Help us one and all by Thy grace;
When the battle’s done, and the vict’ry’s won,
May we wear the crown before Thy face.

Rouse, then, soldiers, rally round the banner,
Ready, steady, pass the word along;
Onward, forward, shout aloud Hosanna!
Christ is Captain of the mighty throng.

A good soldier of Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 2:3

Am I a Soldier of the Cross

Am I a soldier of the cross,
A follower of the Lamb,
And shall I fear to own His cause,
Or blush to speak His name?
In the name of Christ the King,
Who hath purchased life for me,
Thro’ grace I’ll win the promised crown,
Whate’er my cross may be.

Watchman, what is left of the night?
Isaiah 21:11

:poly:

Watchman, Tell Us of the Night

Watchman, tell us of the night, what its signs of promise are.
Traveler, o’er yon mountain’s height, see that glory beaming star.

Watchman, does its beauteous ray aught of joy or hope foretell?
Traveler, yes — it brings the day, promised day of Israel.

Watchman, tell us of the night; higher yet that star ascends.
Traveler, blessedness and light, peace and truth its course portends.

Watchman, will its beams alone gild the spot that gave them birth?
Traveler, ages are its own; see, it bursts o’er all the earth.

Watchman, tell us of the night, for the morning seems to dawn.
Traveler, darkness takes its flight, doubt and terror are withdrawn.

Watchman, let thy wanderings cease; hurry thee to thy quiet home.
Traveler, lo! the Prince of Peace, lo! the Son of God is come!

:poly:

Behold, bless the LORD, all you servants of the LORD,
Who by night stand in the house of the LORD!

Psalm 134:1

Night’s Shadows Falling

Night’s shadows falling men to rest are calling;
Rest we, possessing heav’nly peace and blessing:
This we implore Thee, bowing down before Thee,
Great King of Glory!
O Lord of Glory, praise we and adore Thee
Thee for us given, our true Rest from Heaven!
Rest, peace, and blessing, we are now possessing,
Thy name confessing.

Praise the Lord!

The Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house,
and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work.

Mark 13:34

:poly:

There’s a Work for Each of Us

Our master has taken His journey
To a country that’s far away,
And has left us the care of the vineyard,
To work for Him day by day.

In this little while, doth it matter,
As we work, and we watch, and we wait;
If we’re filling the place He assigns us,
Be its service small or great.

There’s only one thing should concern us,
To find just the task that is ours;
And then, having found it, to do it
With all of our God-giv’n pow’rs.

Our master is coming most surely,
To reckon with every one;
Shall we then count our toil or our sorrow,
If His sentence be, Well done?

There’s a work for me and a work for you,
Something for each of us to do,
Yes, a work for me and a work for you,
Something for each of us now to do.

:poly:

Watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
Mark 13:33

And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!
Mark 13:37
Watch and Pray

Watch and pray that when the Master cometh,
If at morning, noon or night,
He may find a lamp in every window,
Trimmed and burning clear and bright.
Watch and pray, the Lord commandeth;
Watch and pray, ’twill not be long:
Soon He’ll gather home His loved ones,
To the happy vale of song.

Praise the Lord!

...I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

John 14:3

:poly:

Till Jesus Comes

“Till Jesus comes,” we’ll labor, watch and pray,
In His dear service spend each waiting day,
And while His work our loving hands employ,
We upward gaze, and watch for Him with joy.

“I’ll come again,” we read the message sweet,
Its words of cheer to weary hearts repeat;
Tell of His blood that cleanseth from all sin,
The joy He gives, the victory within.

O Bride of Christ, be faithful to thy Lord,
To every nation speed His parting word;
Be filled with faith, and keep the heart aglow,
Let all the world your hope in Jesus know.

The toil and suffering here will soon be o’er,
And with the Lord we’ll be forevermore;
Go labor on, and for His coming pray;
O blessed hope! we’ll see His face some day.

For He’ll come, yes, He’ll come,
His promise to fulfill;
The hope of His appearing:
Our hearts with rapture fill;
We’re waiting for the dawn
Of earth’s millennial morn,
When we’ll greet our glorious bridegroom,
King of kings.

:poly:

I come quickly.
Revelation 22:12

Christ is Coming

Oft methinks I hear His footsteps,
Stealing down the paths of time;
And the future dark with shadows,
Brightens with this hope sublime.
Sound the soul inspiring anthem;
Angel hosts, your harps attune;
Earth’s long night is almost over,
Christ is coming coming soon.

Indeed the half was not told me.
1 Kings 10:7
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
nor have entered into the heart of man
the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

1 Corinthians 2:9

:poly:

Eye Hath Not Seen

They tell me of a land so fair,
Unseen by mortal eyes,
Where spring in fadeless beauty blooms,
Beneath unclouded skies.

They tell me of a land so fair,
Where all is light and song,
Where angel choirs their anthems join
With yonder blood-washed throng.

No radiant beams from sun or moon
Adorn that land so fair,
For He who sits upon the throne
Shines forth resplendent there.

O land of light and love and joy,
Where comes no night of care,
What will our song of triumph be
When we shall enter there!

Eye hath not seen, ear hath not heard,
Neither hath it entered into the heart of man,
The things which God hath prepared for them,
Prepared for them that love Him.

:poly:

Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. Revelation 21:9-11

Not Half Has Ever Been Told

I have read of a beautiful city,
Far away in the kingdom of God;
I have read how its walls are of jasper,
How its streets are all golden and broad;
In the midst of the street is life’s river,
Clear as crystal and pure to behold;
But not half of that city’s bright glory
To mortals has ever been told;
Yes, not half of that city’s bright glory
To mortals has ever been told.

We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.
2 Corinthians 4:18

:poly:

O holy Savior, Friend Unseen

O holy Savior, friend unseen, the faint, the weak on Thee may lean,
Help me, throughout life’s varying scene, by faith to cling to Thee.
Blessed with communion so divine, take what Thou wilt, shall I repine;
When, as the branches to the vine, my soul may cling to Thee?

Far from her home, fatigued, oppressed, here she has found her place of rest
An exile still, yet not unblest, while she can cling to Thee.
What though the world deceitful prove, and earthly friends and joys remove,
With patient, uncomplaining love still would I cling to Thee.

Oft when I seem to read alone some barren wast, with thorns o’ergrown,
A voice of love, in gentlest tone, whispers, still cling to Me.
Though faith and hope may long be tried, I ask not, need not aught beside;
How safe, how calm, how satisfied, the souls that cling to Thee!

They fear not life’s rough storms to brave, since Thou art near, strong to save;
Nor shudder e’en at death’s dark wave, because they cling to Thee.
Blessed is my lot, whate’er befall, what can disturb me, who appall,
While as my strength, my rock, my all, all, Savior, I cling to Thee!

:poly:

I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.
Matthew 28:20

Jesus Himself

The blessings Jesus gives to me
Are in His love outpoured,
But dearer far than these could be
Is He Himself, my Lord;
Jesus Himself with me doth abide,
More to me than all beside,
Jesus Himself, my friend and guide.

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.”
Isaiah 43:1
Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the ORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, And gathered out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. Psalm 107:1-3

Sunday Morning Praise

Redeemed, How I Love To Proclaim It!

Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child and forever I am.

Redeemed, and so happy in Jesus,
No language my rapture can tell;
I know that the light of His presence
With me doth continually dwell.

I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long:
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.

I know I shall see in His beauty
The King in whose law I delight;
Who lovingly guardeth my footsteps,
And giveth me songs in the night.

I know there’s a crown that is waiting,
In yonder bright mansion for me,
And soon, with the spirits made perfect,
At home with the Lord I shall be.

Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

So the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with singing, with everlasting joy on their heads.
They shall obtain joy and gladness; sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.

Psalm 23:1

:poly:

The Lord Is My Shepherd

The Lord is my Shepherd, no want shall I know;
I feed in green pastures, safe folded I rest;
He leadeth my soul where the still waters flow,
Restores me when wand’ring, redeems when oppressed.

Through valley and shadow of death though I stray,
Since Thou art my Guardian, no evil I fear;
Thy rod shall defend me, Thy staff be my stay;
No harm can befall, with my Comforter near.

In midst of affliction my table is spread;
With blessings unmeasured my cup runneth o’er;
With perfume and oil Thou anointest my head;
O what shall I ask of Thy providence more?

Let goodness and mercy, my bountiful God,
Still follow my steps till I meet Thee above;
I seek, by the path which my forefathers trod,
Through land of their sojourn, Thy Kingdom of love.

:poly:

He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.

Psalm 23:2

Beside the Still Waters

Beside the still waters of peace my shepherd leads;
Peace is my spirit possessing, my soul He feeds.
Pastures so green are around me, waters of life shall flow;
Fairest of flowers surround me, ever I onward go.
Beside the still waters, oh Father, my God,
There lead me, there feed me, there show me Thy Word;
There give me Thy counsel, there grant me Thy peace,
There make all my sorrows and wanderings cease.

Savior! I Follow On

Savior! I follow on, guided by Thee,
Seeing not yet the hand that leadeth me;
Hushed be my heart and still, fear I no further ill;
Only to meet Thy will my will shall be.

Riven the rock for me thirst to relieve,
Manna from Heaven falls fresh every eve;
Never a want severe causeth my eye a tear,
But Thou dost whisper near, Only believe!

Often to Marah’s brink have I been brought;
Shrinking the cup to drink, help I have sought;
And with the prayer’s ascent, Jesus the branch hath rent —
Quickly relief hath sent, sweetening the draught.

Savior! I long to walk closer with Thee;
Led by Thy guiding hand ever to be;
Constantly near Thy side, quickened and purified,
Living for Him who died freely for me!

Yea, though I walk through the valley...I will fear no evil;
For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 23:4

Through the Valley

Thro’ the valley of the shadow,
Safe upon the other side,
All our weary conflict over,
There with Jesus satisfied.

Praise the Lord!

My cup overflows.

O Thou, Whose Bounty Fills My Cup

O Thou, whose bounty fills my cup
With every blessing meet!
I give Thee thanks for every drop
The bitter and the sweet.

I praise Thee for the desert road,
And for the riverside;
For all Thy goodness hath bestowed,
And all Thy grace denied.

I thank Thee for both smile and frown,
And for the gain and loss;
I praise Thee for the future crown,
And for the present cross.

I thank Thee for the wing of love,
Which stirred my worldly nest;
And for the stormy clouds which drove
The flutterer to Thy breast.

I bless Thee for the glad increase,
And for the waning joy;
And for this strange, this settled peace,
Which nothing can destroy.

A pure river of water of life, clear as crystal,
proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Revelation 22:1

Will You Meet Me at the Fountain

Will you meet me at the fountain, when I reach the glory land?
Will you meet me at the fountain? Shall I clasp your friendly hand?
Other friends will give me welcome, other loving voices cheer;
There’ll be music at the fountain; will you, will you meet me there?
Yes, I’ll meet you at the fountain, at the fountain bright and fair;
Oh, I’ll meet you at the fountain, yes, I’ll meet you, meet you there.

Drinking From The Saucer

I’ve never made a fortune,
And I'll never make one now,
But it really doesn't matter
’Cause I'm happy anyhow.
As I go along my journey
I'm reaping better than I've sowed,
I'm drinking from the saucer
’Cause my cup has overflowed.

I don’t have a lot of riches,
And sometimes the going's tough,
But with kin and friends to love me
I think I’m rich enough.
I thank God for the blessings
That His mercy has bestowed,
I'm drinking from the saucer
’Cause my cup has overflowed.

He gives me strength and courage
When the way grows steep and rough,
I’ll not ask for other blessings for
I’m already blessed enough.
May we never be too busy
To help bear another's load,
Then we’ll all be drinking from the saucer
When our cups have overflowed.

:poly:

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me ALL the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Amen!

Psalm 23:6

I Shall Dwell Forever There

When the night is o’er and the shadows past,
And eternal dawn dispels the gloom of earthly care;
In the home of God I shall rest at last,
In the land of Eden I shall dwell forever there.
I shall walk the streets of the city of God
With its tree of life so bright, so fair,
There will be no night — Jesus is the light,
I shall dwell forever there.
