That is why now is an opportune time for us to get one this year with the team we have, the defense has improved, and next season we should be able to repeat.

Your Falcons scored 540 points this year. That puts them in a tie for seventh place for most points scored in a season in the history of the NFL.

However, none of the other seven teams on that list ever won a Super Bowl.

Funny you should ask.

That Rams team from 1999 was the highest scoring regular season team to win a Super Bowl.

Here is the Top 10 list:

606 - Denver 2013 - lost Super Bowl to Seahawks

589 - New England 2007 - lost Super Bowl to Giants

560 - Green Bay 2011 - lost in Divisional round to Giants

557 - New England 2012 - lost AFC Championship to Ravens

556 - Minnesota 1998 - lost NFC Championship to Falcons

547 - New Orleans 2011 - lost Divisional round to 49'ers

540 - St. Louis Rams 2000 - lost Wild Card Playoff to Saints
540 - Atlanta 2016 - ?????????????????????????

526 - St. Louis Rams 1999 - Won Super Bowl

522 - Indianapolis 2004 - lost Divisional round to Patriots

If it makes you feel any better, Matty Ice is now on a Top 10 list with Peyton, Brady, Rogers, Brees, Warner, and Randell Cunningham. (Peyton, Brady, and Warner are each on the list twice).

Also, everyone on the list has a ring except for Cunningham and Matty Ice.

Tom Brady played 12 games and threw 2 picks. He's coming into the tournament walking on a high-wire, IOW. That's the only thing I'm concerned about as a NE fan. If he can keep walking that high-wire, then the Pats will win the 2016 NFL season. If not, their chances drop precipitously.

No team has an easier path to the Super Bowl than the Patriots.

They will get either Miami, Oakland, or Houston in the Divisional Round. All of those teams lost their starting QB's, and even the starting QB's have no playoff experience.

Then the Patriots will in all likelihood get KC or Pittsburgh.

While KC's defense may slow down Brady, there is no way Alex Smith is going to outscore him.

The Steelers are the only team in the AFC with a remote chance of beating the Patriots at Foxboro. Brady will pick the young Steelers defense apart, but the Steelers have the offense to hang with him.

However, Brady and Belichick have been like kryptonite to the Steelers since 2001.

Bledsoe relieved Brady during the AFC championship game against Pittsburgh that season though.

You're right. It was in the second quarter.

Troy Brown singlehandedly won that game for the Patriots. He returned a punt for a touchdown, lateraled a blocked field goal that resulted in a touchdown, and had 8 catches for 121 yards.

Since the Steelers are the only "old" NFL team then I can only conclude that you are predicting them to win.

Right, Goober?

Or are you trying to have it both ways?

The Seattle Seahawks moved into AFC West from the NFC West division (1977 Season). In 2002 they moved back to the NFC West.

Both Seattle and Pittsburgh can be considered an "old NFL team."

Seattle is not an "old NFL team".

An "old NFL team" are the teams from the NFL before the merger with the AFL in 1970.

Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and the Baltimore Colts were the three NFL teams that joined the AFL teams in what was called the AFC Conference. The remaining NFL teams became the NFC Conference.

The Seahawks were an expansion team in 1976, they were never in the "old NFL".

***Since the merger, no team has dominated the NFL like the Steelers.

No team has dominated the NFL the past 10 years like the Patriots.

Top 10 teams (based on regular season records) the last 10 years:

126 - 34 Patriots
106 - 53 - 1 Packers
103 - 57 Steelers
100 - 60 Colts
94 - 66 Broncos
92 - 68 Cowboys
91 - 69 Saints
90 - 70 Ravens
89 - 71 Falcons
89 - 70 - 1 Seahawks

Every team in the Top 10 list has won a Super Bowl during those 10 years except for the Cowboys, Colts, and Falcons (Colts won the previous year).

Since the merger, no team has dominated the NFL like the Steelers.

The only fair way to judge the success or failure of an NFL team is to examine its record during the time of its existence. So let us look at this realistically.

Since their beginning the Steelers have won a championship about once every 14 years.

On the other hand, since their beginning the Cowboys have won a championship every 11 years.

Since their beginning the Steelers have appeared in a championship game every 10 years.

On the other hand, since their beginning the Cowboys have appeared in a championship game every 7 years.

Since their beginning the Cowboys have a winning percentage which will never be matched by the Steelers.

So we can see that the Boys slaughter the lowly Steelers when these teams are measured in a realistic manner. But of course you prefer to live in a fantasy world!
