It is reported that Mike Tirico is being replaced on Monday Night Football. Cris Carter, Mike Ditka, Trent Dilfer, and murderer Ray Lewis are all on their way out. ESPN cannot afford the model. The model being you pay whatever they want for programming and tickets. Either salaries come down through market forces, or ESPN hires idiots like Randy Moss (they did) so they can pay "entry level" compared to the salary Ditka likely gets.

Something has to give, and it isn't going to be the people.

Mike jumped ship for NBC, so they had to find someone else. Ditka was getting a bit ripe. Carter embarrassed the company and before that had turned into another career sabotaging M. Hoge too often. You don't need more than one of those. Dilfer is solid, but they're getting Hasselback is more of everything Dilfer brought and has more charisma on air. Moss is an intriguing hire as personalities go. Less sure about Woodson, who always came across as knowledgeable but flat on the screen.

I am curious about how Woodson will do. He came across as a bit of "WWF like" on the field, but not in a bad way. Charisma goes a long way on TV.

Tono Romo Arrested In North Carolina For Using Men's Bathroom.

According to the Daily Snark,

"Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:57pm ET, North Carolina Police detained a man, later to be identified as Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, for using the men’s restroom in the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.

Police say they received a complaint from numerous bystanders and patrons inside the bathroom complaining of a person who didn’t belong there...Under the state law, Romo was technically prohibited from using the men’s bathroom even if he identified as a man."

So there's another controversy for the NFL right there.

More seriously, everyone should read this article about what Peyton Manning did for a grieving family on the worst day of the year. (link)

I heard about that, as my office is near the jetport.

If some idiot franchise signs Manziel, he will have to sit 4 games.

Speaking of the penalty box, the 'Boys have another suspended. Starting linebacker Rolando McClain will miss 10 games. Ouch. This is in addition to Randy Gregory and Demarcus Lawrence already in the penalty box.
