The Cubs can't win the World Series

I didn't think the White Sox or Red Sox would ever win a world series in my lifetime. Nor did I think the city of Cleveland would ever win a championship in my lifetime.

So, I'm now open to the possibility that the Cubs can win a World Series.

After that, the only thing left, is for the city of Buffalo, and the city of San Diego to win a major championship.

Buffalo hasn't had as much heartache as Cleveland (they only have two professional teams, whereas Cleveland has three), but they have had their share of misery.

Not only have they never won a championship, they lost four Super Bowls in a row. That had to be painful. They also lost two Stanley Cup Finals.

The Norwood miss was the best chance they had, as Dallas and Washington crushed them in the other three.

If you get a chance watch the movie Buffalo '66

Now that I have slept on it I gotta say how massively disppointed I am this morning. As a sports fan this is the second most disappointing loss (#1 is the 2002 San Franciso Giants losing game 6 of the World Series). The Warriors had their shot. The game was tied 89-89 for a long time and the Warriors missed their last 9 shots. Kudos to the Cavs for working their butts off and simply taking the title away from the Warriors. LeBron is a beast of a player, one of the greatest in NBA history.

The Warriors join the 1906 Chicago Cubs (116-36 W-L, lost World Series to the White Sox), the 1934/1942 Chicago Bears (both reached NFL title game undefeated and untied but lost in the title game), the 1954 Cleveland Indians (won American League record 111 games, swept in the World Series), the 2001 Seattle Mariners (116 wins), and the 2007 New England Patriots.

Now the Warriors can sign Kevin Durrant to help get payback next season! :chuckle:

I think Lebron's game is ugly to watch mainly because he is penguin toed.
I know I've said it before. Jordan's pigeon toed play was much more aesthetic.

Plus, Lebron's jumper is painfully robotic.

Jack fell asleep. When told of what happened he was very unhappy and vowed to find the Cavs locker and steal the trophy so that he could give it back to the Warriors. :chuckle:

 I may have to work on his sportsmanship skill-set.

I think this is one of those rare times when, over a long series, the better team didn't actually win...that can make it especially bitter for those on the losing side. We expect that sort of thing can happen in a game, like football, where there's no best-of and the foibles of men combined with chance can simply turn the tables on a given day, but we don't expect it in a best of seven.

James simply performed at a level most of us won't see often in a lifetime. Like Jordan before him, he took an able team where it could not otherwise go. It further defines and elevates his legacy over otherwise worthy contenders.

I wouldn't, because he would definitely take the second of the traditional two primary players and that might stunt Klay or move him toward the door. I'd just have faith that this adversity and time will toughen them and recognize that without injuries this is likely another ring year.

This happened to the Warriors before in 1976. The Warriors were the defending champs and won a franchise record 59 games. They met the 42-40 Seattle Supersonics in the Western Conference Finals. The Warriors were up 3-2 then lost game 6 and game 7 (at home). Rick Barry always said the 1976 team way better than the 1975 championship team. Had the Warriors reached the Finals a Warriors/Celtics series would have been epic.

The current Warriors really need a productive big man that can score some and rebound.

If you had said the legendary Julius Dr J Erving, then I would agree. The most pigeon toed athlete has to be Elway. And it didn't seem to effect anything.

Dirk Nowitzki has decided to be a free agent. Read, he may just want another shot at a ring that he isn't going to get with the Mavs.

I know he's old now, but this year he was still good for 18 pts, 8 boards, 2.5 ast, He's an 89% FT shooter, a 48% from the field, 37% from the 3 pt line addition to any team.

Does he go GS? Take a couple of swings with the Cavs?

I've always liked Dirk. A future no doubts Hall of Famer. I think he'd be an excellent addition to the Warriors though I'd prefer a player who will be around and productive at least 2-3 years.

You could get two out of him. Look at the minutes he sustained. One year of that and a second of meaningful bench or specialty play, like Ray Allen at the end. Worth it.

I always thought Doc was a bit robotic, certainly not as athletic as many players today.
