Homeschooled kids show its possible to learn and develop(mentally) more over 12 years putting pressure on the rest of us, how inconsiderate.

FYI: I'm a homeschooled senior, been homeschooled all my life, but I have taken some classroom courses through our local homeschool co-op. I had no difficulty adjusting to classroom learning. :)
:thumb: So have I.

I never said they didn't. Most Homeschoolers are socially better off than Public/Private School students.

I dont know about that, but hey, I'm just going off my own personaly experiances, nothing to big. You know, the problems I faced could be just localized to me. I thought that maybe others had the same problems I had. Who knows, its a crazy world.

Thank you for setting the record straight on your education, Searcher. :) Are you saying as a homeschooled student you had no social interaction with other people?

Not at all, I was part of a youth orginazation, but, as a young man who had minimal interactions with people my own age i found myself at a loss on how to deal with some situations when they came up. I was flying by the seat of my pants for lack of any other way to add to that.

I was part of a good Christians school (far fewer than 100 students) with class sizes of about 10 :) When I switched over to high school, I skipped a whole grade and tested out of half a year of it... Gotta love early graduation! THere are so many better ways to socialize than a school setting :)

Hi, I homeschool my daughter and she probably gets more social interaction being homeschooled than she would if we had left her in public school. She is in 4-h, boys & girls club, keystone club, and church activities along with classes and sports in school. It just depends on the parents homeschooling. The first year we homeschooled, I didn't do much other than do the work ahead of us. the rest of the time, we have been is sports and stuff through church and b&g club.
We like the flexibility of the whole thing. Being able to work only on one lesson if she needs more time, or skipping a lesson and working on something else for a time if she gets frustrated.

And these excellent points have no sway over the biological father, MrsDD?

Nope, he is stubborn! He did lighten up on me a bit after realizing the stuff she is involved in but he is a very traditional "by the book" guy and doesn't want his kids to different than what he considers "the norm". I respect his oppinion, but we still homeschool.

I'm just glad that it apears he will not be shacking up with any one this summer when the kids are down there. For a change.

Why do you respect his opinion? How much do you respect it? I will pray for you two, and RiotGurl. As well as her siblings.

As for Searcher's rep point, it may have been someone forgetting to switch to negative.

Searcher-
In your UserCP is there a green rep point shown with a :Brandon: in the comment box?

Up at the top of the page, where it says, "User CP." Click on it. The page that loads should have a list of your rep points on it. But I have checked, and I did not rep you. I apologize.

Mainly I respect that he has an opinion, and listened to it. We discussed how he felt about the whole thing and then he bickered with us when we tried to tell him how we felt about it. Thanks for the prayers!

Dread, I'm glad you are having such a positive experience with the type of schooling your parents have chosen for you. I can't agree that "anyone" is capable of homeschooling their children adequately, however. Like anything else, some people have more aptitude in this than others, and may be misinforming their children despite their best intentions.
I found your list of "homeschooled" high achievers quite fascinating. Based on your other posts, I have a general idea of some of your beliefs and values, so I was intrigued by your inclusion of a number of homosexuals (Noel Coward, Leonardo da Vinci, etc.), notorious adulterers (Claude Monet, etc.), socialists (George Bernard Shaw, Sean O'Casey, etc.), atheists (John Stuart Mill, Shaw again, etc.), and a polygamist (Brigham Young). I hope you will re-think the list, as it might make some Christian parents hesistant to choose homeschooling, if this is what it leads to!
