Dukes of Hazzard Dropped by TV Land

No one is taking away anyone's right to fly a Confederate Flag, or watch the Dukes of Hazzard.

The flag symbolizes racism and hate. Why would a cable television network want to air a show that has that symbol portrayed in a positive way.

It would be like airing a show that had a Nazi flag on top of a 69' Charger with Heinrich Himmler on it, and portraying it in a positive way.

Your stupid is showing. The Confederate flag is like the swastika and its origin.

It means one thing to one group, and something else to another. You are helping the attack on Christianity and America. The confederate flag is just getting the foot in the door. But being a child of the devil, you actively push it.

Holocaust Encylopeida said:
The word swastika comes from the Sanskrit svastika, which means “good fortune” or “well-being." The motif (a hooked cross) appears to have first been used in Neolithic Eurasia, perhaps representing the movement of the sun through the sky. To this day it is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Odinism. It is a common sight on temples or houses in India or Indonesia.

It is also meaningless. When Nazi's are doing whatever it is they do, their flag is not my concern. What comes from their mouth and potential actions is my concern.

The Media is in bed with the government. If you spent time researching the 911 hoax you would know that by now. No planes, no jumpers.

This is not a "liberal" thing. This is the government losing control over the people and finding ways to stop it growing.

This is what television and film have done historically. It is rare that a TV show will go against this. One TV series that tired to do this was a show called Roc starting Charles S. Dutton. It started out a straight sitcom about a married black garbage man living in Baltimore. But it started to delve into real contemporary social issues like gang violence, drugs, etc. The show was really intense and it showed a no-holds barred view of contemporary life in urban America. The show only lasted three seasons, not surprising given its content. A great show nevertheless.

I liked that show! And I liked Dutton's character in particular - because he was not a charicature of a black man, or a middle class man, or a good man or a bad man. He was all those things in a singular unique way … just like a real man or woman is.

Yep it's offensive.

Same for the Vikings and Raiders

I find the Washington Wizards logo offensive

I find the Duke Blue Devils logo offensive and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons offensive.

What's your point?

My point? You're a moron, wimp, "politically correct" man pleaser.

My evidence? You.

I disagree that they are as harmless as you allow. I think the stereotypes you note reinforce the ignorance that feeds on them.

Displaying some black kid endlessly repeating "dyn-o mite" like some black-faced 'Howdy-Doody' only serves to support the racist's belief that this is how black kids really think and act. Same goes for the bias behind all these silly stereotypes, from Archie Bunker to George Jefferson to Ellie May and Jethro.

Well, I don't think they're harmless. I don't watch any of those shows because they aren't harmless, but that's my view. If people aren't aware or choose to ignore the stereotype, then that is their choice. I see no reason to take it off the air because of me, I don't have to watch.

Plus, how many people who would get offended by a show actually watch it more than once? I bet you Nick M doesn't watch American Dad, but then again he must get his ideas somewhere :chuckle: .

Making a mountain out of a molehill.

If someone claims they are a Christian, and they defend the Confederate Flag, they are no different than someone who claims to be a Christian who defends the Rainbow Flag.

Er, no.

The Confederate Flag has NEVER stood for anything good.

It has always represented treason, slavery, and racial hatred.

If someone claims they are a Christian, and they defend the Confederate Flag, they are no different than someone who claims to be a Christian who defends the Rainbow Flag.

Hogwash!!

You've already succumbed to Marxist revisionist history!

There's nothing revisionist about the Confederate Flag.

It's a symbol of treason, slavery, and racial hatred.

Which is why the KKK and every White Supremacist group uses it.

If you had family that lived and fought under the Confederate Flag, they were not only the losers, they were wrong.
Your myopic bigotry toward southern folks is very telling of how you let the media spin lead you by the nose.

I don't have a problem with Southern folks. I don't need the media, I spend about 25% of my life in North Carolina each year.

My problem is with people such as yourself who defend a flag that symbolizes treason, slavery, and racial hatred.

I see it firsthand in North Carolina.

Still led by the nose and stereotyping all southerners, I see.

You've got to be kidding me. This is just plain ridiculous. TV Land has dropped the "Dukes of Hazzard" because the General Lee has the Confederate battle flag on its rooftop. I loved this show as a kid, watched every Friday night.
NaNg[/YT]

i think it was dumb to drop the show. However, why did they have that flag on the car in the 1st place?

Sorry, but if i were Black, i would... receive that as some kind of message... and not a very good one
