Do You Repent Daily

You keep telling us what you think, and what you feel. How about you finding out what God thinks through His Word. You don't even have q grip on what repentance is.

2 Cor 7:8-12
8 For even if I made you sorry with my letter, I do not regret it; though I did regret it. For I perceive that the same epistle made you sorry, though only for a while.
9 Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing.
10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.
11 For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter.
12 Therefore, although I wrote to you, I did not do it for the sake of him who had done the wrong, nor for the sake of him who suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear to you.
(NKJ)

The quicker you repent the less sorrow/regret you have to feel. The end-product is change in oneself. Why belabour that with shame and guilt? Shame and guilt and one's conscience only serve to show the problem. If the problem is solved, there is nothing to repent of. There are better ways for a Christian to spend their time.

I think your confused about the difference between emotions and affections. I think if you find out the difference in them you will understand. Shame and guilt are good for the soul.

Shame (disgrace)(embarrassment of what you done)
2 Cor 4:2
2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
2 Cor 11:20-21
20 For you put up with it if one brings you into bondage, if one devours you, if one takes from you, if one exalts himself, if one strikes you on the face.
21 To our shame, I say that we were too weak for that! But in whatever anyone is bold-- I speak foolishly-- I am bold also.
Phil 3:18-21
18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame-- who set their mind on earthly things.
20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
Heb 12:2-4
2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.
4 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.
Rev 3:17-19
17 "Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'-- and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked--
18 "I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
19 "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
(NKJ)

xxShame is an affection of embarrassment of something we did or said that we shouldnt have. God promises to take care of everything in our lives if we are obediant. Now if He isnt taking care of everything then we are not obedient in our walk. And that should bring on shame. We can turn away shame with repentance. Because repentance is obedience.Whether it be an apology to a person or repentance to God.

Do you realize Jesus' standard is perfection?

I know no one is, so we are in sin daily.

That's why we need Jesus to be our mediator to be right with God.

But we have to acknowledge we are sinning daily and ask for forgiveness.

Blimey I pray and ask God to forgive me always.

So when Christ forgave you it wasn't enough for Him to do it once? He has to do it again and again and again every time you sin?

That seems... inefficient...

Why would Jesus ask us to pray daily for forgiveness in the Lord's prayer if we don't need to always be forgiven?

Because he's not speaking to us. He was speaking to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Forgiveness was part of the Law. "You must ____" is a law.

And there is a condition, we are forgiven as we forgive others who sin against us.

The condition is that if Israel did not forgive others, then God would not forgive them. That's a law. Forgive, or you will not be forgiven.

Paul tells us God has already forgiven us, so we should therefore forgive others. That's grace, not law. Forgive, because you are forgiven. Show the world that just as Christ has forgiven you of all sin, you can forgive others.

Why would Jesus include forgiveness in the Lord's prayer if there was no need for it?

I don't think anyone has said there isn't a need for forgiveness. What iouae is saying is that Christians have already been forgiven (past tense) once and for all sin, therefore we don't need to keep asking for forgiveness, because we are already forgiven.

Even if you don't know what your thorn is yet, you will. And you will always have something to repent of.

2 Cor 12:7-9
7 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.
8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
9 And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

I have too many to count.

But I still keep trying.

Acknowledging my countless unknown sins, it keeps me humble.

That's why I don't even say "I am saved". And I know many churchgoers are in my shoe but they claim to be saved and throw stone at me every time when the subject comes up..

2 Tim 2:24-26
24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient,
25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,
26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
Acts 5:30-32
30 "The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree.

Luke 15:11-32
11 Then He said: "A certain man had two sons.
12 "And the younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.' So he divided to them his livelihood.
13 "And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.
14 "But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want.
15 "Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16 "And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything.
17 "But when he came to himself, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
18 'I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you,
19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants."'
20 "And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.
21 "And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.'
22 "But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.
23 'And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry;
24 'for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' And they began to be merry.
25 "Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing.
26 "So he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant.
27 "And he said to him, 'Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf.'
28 "But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him.
29 "So he answered and said to his father, 'Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends.
30 'But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.'
31 "And he said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.
32 'It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.'"
Luke 15:7

28 "But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, 'Son, go, work today in my vineyard.'
29 "He answered and said, 'I will not,' but afterward he regretted it and went.
30 "Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, 'I go, sir,' but he did not go.
31 "Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said to Him, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you.

Acts 3:19
19 "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,
2 Cor 12:20-21
20 For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults;
21 lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn for many who have sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness, fornication, and lewdness which they have practiced.
Heb 6:4-6
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit,
5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,
6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.
Luke 18:10-14
10 "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
11 "The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men-- extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.
12 'I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.'
13 "And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!'
14 "I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
Heb 6:10
10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
Heb 8:10-12
10 "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
11 "None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.
12 "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more."

XXX Repentance is a self regret that leads to shame. And a strong desire to change. It leads to humility towards God. any born again Christian will tell you they repent daily. They repent when they stumble, they repent for allowing evil thoughts in their minds, they repent for their ignorance of the Word, they repent for not being strong enough to over come, they repent of their weaknesses. Repentance should go on until you leave this body. There is only one sin that cant be repented of. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Rev 2:5
5 "Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place-- unless you repent.

Luke 13:2-5
2 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things?
3 "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
4 "Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish."
(NKJ)

I Jn 1:4-10
4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

(NKJ)

Rom 4:5-8
5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,

8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin."

In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

Heb 12:16-17
16 lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.

The last chance to repent.

Rev 16:9-11

But we have to acknowledge we are sinning daily and ask for forgiveness.

Give me a for instance of how you sinned today, and how, with TRUE repentance you plan to not repeat that sin ever in future. Then I will say you are walking the talk.

Luk 3:8
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Repentance without change, is dead.

And if one is repenting and changing daily, then one should have less and less to repent of every day.

I have been trying to keep my mouth shut but it is very difficult to get rid of years of dysfunctional relationship habit.

I am getting better but it comes out every once in a while.

First of all, it depends on what exactly you mean by repent.I believe repent means a change of mind which then leads to a change in behavior. This comes from a Godly sorrow over our sinful behavior.Once you know God through His Son Jesus, you can't help but repent. It's like driving down the road and all the sudden a delusion is ripped away and you see that the road in front of you is no longer there.

Fruits are not things you work for, they're things that are born from your attitude.

If you have Christ, those things come naturally to you, just like if a fruit tree is pollinated, it naturally bears fruit of it's own kind. It doesn't bear fruit of a different kind. In the same way, if Christ lives within us, then we will bear his fruit, love, joy peace, etc.
