May I ask... What religion / what denomination of church you attend? It seems you have received some very poor teaching, which differs from God's Word.

That's a funny way to start your testimony of how you got saved.

I wasn't raised in a church.
I was raised in the wilderness, by Jesus Himself.

For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand,
and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,
Say ye not, A confederacy,
to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy;
neither fear ye their fear,
nor be afraid.
Sanctify the LORD of hosts Himself;
and let Him be your fear,
and let Him be your dread.
Isaiah 8:10-12

We don't save ourselves by taking up the cross.....
We don't save ourselves by following His commandments...

Instead.... We follow Him, because HE saved us.

He kept the commandments.
So how are you following Him?

Like little lambs?

We follow Him; we take up our cross because we have been saved.

And your cross is to preach Him crucified?
(I prefer Him alive.)

He made me a new creature. I can't make myself a new creature.

How?
How did it happen? What happened?

Did He come to you?
Did He put the cross in your hand?
Did you have to do something, anything, to get Him to do that?

1 Cor. 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."

This says, if anyone is in Christ.

What has this passage to do with the message of the cross?
What does the message of the cross say?

To be fair,
I will tell you what I did, that caused Jesus to come to me.
I donned sackclothe and ashes and fasted and prayed and walked.
But most importantly, I ate nothing but His flesh. I touched nothing leavened.
I strived to do all that He commands, and to enter the strait gate.
I did this for four and half years.
He placed a sword in my hand and opened my mouth to preach.
Now I preach His word, the gospel of the kingdom,
and I teach the commandments.

Praise Jesus.

You sure give yourself a lot of credit.... The Pharisees also were quite proud of all they did.
Paul credited his salvation because of what Jesus did.
You do not seem to understand why Jesus (Last Adam) had to physically die... what He did was necessary to become our mediator.
