I like that she is standing up for her religious liberty.

If the left wants to fight.... fight back.

She will eventually be fired but kudos to her for standing up for herself.

Regardless of whether it's personal/religious freedom in question, etc., I tend to side with the employer's right VS that of their employees and customers.

No one has addressed the real issue. That is, she is a representative of the county, right? They are applying for a marriage license that is now supported by federal law. Opinions aside, she does not have a choice.

Would you be supporting her if she was refusing to serve black couples because of her 'religious beliefs'? Or Jewish couples? Or someone who is handicapped?

That's usually the death of these "religious liberty" rallying cries from conservative Christians....when people of other beliefs start exercising the same "liberties". Suddenly then it's not such a good idea.

The very idea of gay marriage is insane.

Marriage is about a man and woman committing themselves to God to serve God together

For a government to make gay marriage an "equality" is calling evil good and good evil.

Even as oil and water do not mix even so homosexuality (or any other sin for that matter) and righteousness do not mix.

God's word instructs us to reckon ourselves dead to sin and to serve sin no more. Homosexuals desire to sanction the serving of sin as a good thing.

The clerk is righteous to object to condoning sin.

She always has a choice.

A soldier commanded to murder has the choice to ignore that order, for murder is wrong. Shooting an enemy who is hell bent on killing you is one thing, David killed Goliath, that took godly courage and conviction, but murder is wrong.

If your employer tells you to do something that you know is clearly morally wrong do you do it without question?

The clerk is right to object to an immoral action.

Gay marriage is stupid, evil nonsense, even as homosexuality is stupid, evil nonsense.

Fair enough, she does have a choice. But she can't scream "persecution" if she gets fired. As a clerk, this is a part of her job that she has known about.

False, it was not part of her job till recently and the law allows for reasonable accommodation where religion is concerned. She should not have to check her faith at the door.

Yes, she should. Since she is a representative of a sector of the government, and we are a secular nation, she does have to check her faith at the door. It has zero weight in her position.

We don't check our faith at the door, what we have is a life, even the Spirit of the Living God, we do not check Him at the door.

And friend His law is above your law....America is a nation which exerts it's authority and it's will over other sovereign nations making them obey.

God is able and He will exert His rule over America when America starts to legislate evil laws...this may be an unpleasant experience for you.

What the clerk has to do is to explain and reason with her superiors that if she can't be excused in the matter of issuing licences to sin against God then she must resign.

Well said.

Screaming persecution?

Who is doing the screaming?

It has been the homosexuals who have been doing all the screaming.

They want more than anyone else, they want to change things to their advantage.

They want easy access to sexual perversion and want that society condones it.

The want fresh young meat to satiate their perverted lusts.

And they will do whatever it takes to achieve that goal.

Their minds are so darkened they would think they could outlaw the law of gravity and get away with it.

False. See: http://www.eeoc.gov/laws/types/religion.cfm

Religious Discrimination And Employment Policies/Practices

An employee cannot be forced to participate (or not participate) in a religious activity as a condition of employment.

and

Religious Accommodation/Dress & Grooming Policies

Unless it would be an undue hardship on the employer's operation of its business, an employer must reasonably accommodate an employee's religious beliefs or practices.

If it would not pose an undue hardship, the employer must grant the accommodation.

Also the consitution itself, most people these days want to ignore the last part:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof

There are no unless clauses added to the free exercise part.

Celebrating an expression of freedom by taking freedoms away from others doesn't seem hypocritical to you? Say that out loud a few times.
Not every behavior is a valid expression of freedom.

We don't rob a person's freedom when we deny a 40 year old man from marrying a willing 15 year old girl. We deny that request because it is immoral and perverted.

Homosexuality is a similar perversion.
