Calvinism: Satan's Attempt to Pervert the "Historical Gospel" of Jesus Christ
There is only one Gospel and it is NOT Calvinism.
Paul wrote to the Galatians that were straying from the grace Gospel of Jesus Christ.
"I marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called you into THE GRACE OF CHRIST unto another Gospel. Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you and would pervert the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But though we or an angel from heaven, preach any other Gospel unto you than which we have preached, unto you, let him be accursed" Galatians 1:6-8.
Strong words from Paul. Why was Paul so protective of the Gospel? Even to say that if someone preached any other Gospel than what Paul preached "Let him be accursed" or damned to hell. Paul believed that Faith in Christ and his Gospel was the gateway into heaven and eternal life and that to preach any other Gospel was to hinder the way to eternal life.
Calvinism is another Gospel and is a false Gospel. It is the Gospel of predestination. The Bible does not support predestination as a way to eternal life. There is no scripture that says anyone has been predestinated to heaven or to hell. If there was the Bible would be full of it. There is NOTHING.
The Bible teaches that, "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" Which is the Gospel, Romans 10:17. On the day of Pentecost 8,000 Jews heard and believed Peter's Gospel and were saved, Acts 2:41, Acts 4:4. God does not zapp people with the Holy Spirit. You must hear and believe the Gospel. Some hear and believe, others hear, but do not believe, Hebrews 4:2. We don't know why this is so, apparently some love their sins more than they love Christ.
Before you can know what a counterfeit is, you must compare it with the real thing. I was fortunate enough to learn the "Historical Gospel" from some very dear and highly educated Christian scholars who believed that... "It is the Gospel, plus NOTHING" and that if it is the Gospel plus something, it is no longer the Gospel. Believe me, it took a long time to understand what those guys were talking about. I am still trying to comprehend what God has done in and through his Son Jesus Christ. Paul said, "We look through a glass darkly" 1 Corinthians 13:12. When we get to heaven everything will be made clear.
WHAT IS THE "HISTORICAL GOSPEL" OF JESUS CHRIST?
The Gospel is between God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ. We had not part in it, other than being the benefactors of the Gospel. "God was in Christ reconciling us and the world unto himself" 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19. How did Jesus reconcile us and the world unto God? Did he do it by doing something in us, like making us holy? Or did he do something totally and completely outside of us? What Jesus did he did totally and completely outside of us because we are sinners. God does not accept the works or the obedience of sinners.
Jesus breaks into the human race by clothing himself in human flesh. He is God's new Adam and our new humanity, 2 Corinthians 5:17. By his righteous, sinless life, he offers to God the Father a life of perfect obedience according to his Holy Law. He does this in our name and on our behalf, just like we had done it ourselves. It was his righteous, sinless life, that was lived for our justification, Romans 3:26.
The fulfilling of the law was not enough, something had to be done about our sins and the sins of the whole world. "For he (God) has made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" 2 Corinthians 5:21. Jesus takes our sins and the sins of the whole world upon himself and atones for them, 1 John 2:2.
The law has been fulfilled and abolished, Ephesians 2:15. Our sins and the sins of the world have been atoned for. Nothing else is required for the salvation of fallen man. This why Paul could say, "You are complete in him" (Christ) Colossians 2:10. When God looks at us all that he can see is his Son Jesus Christ, "For you are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God" Colossians 3:3. In the judgment those that are saved will be found "In Christ." Those that are not saved will be found in their sins. Their sins will be imputed back to then, Romans 4:8.
