And last night, Midland and Odessa, the pair of great horned owls that brought up three young owls in the park across the street, were back and hooting it up last night.

I love that sound, and I'm glad they're back.

I have a Robin who seems to love me. He has appeared for three years in a row now. He sits on the window ledge and looks in at me as if to check and make sure that I'm okay.
I stand by the window and reassure him that I am indeed okay!

That's neat! Last year some doves set up shop in a tree branch right by my kitchen window. Being a cat owner, the activity on the branch attracted the attention of my cat Schmoo. He would sit on the kitchen window shelf all day long, watching the baby doves as they were fed and grew. There was less than a foot of space between the window and the nest. Schmoo would put his paw on the window in an attempt to touch the birds. Granted, he was probably thinking "food" as opposed to reaching out in love. This year, however, a pair of doves showed up to build a nest in the exact same place and darned if one of them didn't keep poking at the window until Schmoo jumped up on the window shelf. They were making googoo eyes at each other the whole first part of Summer until their babies grew and flew away. Schmoo is feeling a bit at a loss since they've gone.

This weekend I met my son's girlfriend's new puppy. He is a tiny little thing - less than 3 pounds. I had forgotten the awesomeness that is a puppy. They smell so good, and they are so warm and wiggly. Puppies are good for the soul. :)

These last four years have been pretty hard on me but through it all, I have learned that praying for and edifying others helps so much. I'm amazed by the blessings of God despite the trials of life....and death. I am so thankful and thankful for friends and you know who you are. We serve an awesome God! Together, we will endure!

Somebody's Praying

Park in St. Louis. Lafayette Park, I think.

A rather old park, it has the oldest standing greenhouse west of the Mississippi, and is enclosed by a fence meant to exclude grazing livestock.
