When he did repent he didn't believe that he could be forgiven, and he didn't repent to Christ.

I merely posted the passages, together with their different Greek word, just to bring out their differences with a shorter post.

Still, both senses of, or meanings for the word "repent" are found throughout Scripture.

Another simple example of this...

1- To regret....

Genesis 6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

2- To change one's mind...

Exodus 32:14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

It depends on what is being talked about when that word is THEN brought up.

In the former, Genesis is talking about how evil man became.

It is talking about that when it THEN uses the word repent - to say that God regretted making man. His heart was heavy.

Just like the word heavy - that I have just used - what a word means depends on what was being talked about when it was THEN brought up in line with what was being talked about.

In the Exodus example, what was being talked about was how livid God was with Israel.

So livid that He was about to wipe them out, and start all over through Moses.

Moses THEN reminded Him of His Covenant unto Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

At which point God THEN repented, or changed His mind, about wiping them out.

What a word means, depends on what is being talked about when that word is THEN brought up - in line with what was being talked about.
