Is there an alleged constitutional basis for it?My biggest rub with it other than it is a substandard fuel source is the fact that the constitution does not give the federal government the right to push any fuel source over another upon the people and it surely doesn't have the right to prop it up (subsidize it) with federal (my/our) money. That goes for Ethanol or Crude, these business' have the right to exist and flourish as the buying market demands without federal interference. I am ready to see the federal government juggernaut shrink drastically and this is just one example of where the government does not belong.
I can't speak to the US Constitution on the matter, but in general I'm not against the government getting involved in ways like this.
It probably comes down to publicity and money. The whole Palin thing is very perplexing, I am waiting to see what her angle is because it is not plainly apparent at this point.
