  • You need to hit the range a few more times because... you need to hit the green?

I've never understood the attraction of golf. Hit the ball, everyone stand around and look at the balls. Move a few blades of grass. Get your face down to ball level and squint at the distance to the hole. Stand up, take a few minutes to decide which club to use, talk about how hot it is, take a swig of iced tea, take a few practice swings in slow motion.... hit the ball... and cuss. :chuckle:

But I'm glad you had fun, and what a nice thing to do with your dad on Father's Day. You're a good son. I hope your dad is feeling better these days, and I hope you do get a game in soon, you'll have fun. :)
No, no - you've got it wrong. Since I sent the PM, it was my conversation that was so not stimulating. :chuckle:

20 miles inland here can mean 20 degrees hotter in summer, 20 degrees colder in winter. By the coast, the ocean keeps it boringly temperate, no kidding - I took a screen shot on my phone last month of the 7 day forecast for the coast, because it was so hilarious:

    66/59
    66/59
    66/59
    66/61
    66/59
    66/59
    66/59
    66/59

    :chuckle:
That's okay. :chuckle: no worries. To be honest, I don't even remember what we were talking about.

Yes thanks, enjoying summer. And yes, it was hot yesterday, 108 degrees where I was for the afternoon because I happened to be inland. But I had air conditioning so it was fine. I live near the coast now where the weather is more temperate (10-20 degrees difference) but I don't have air conditioning in my apartment and most of the time, even in summer, it's not necessary. :)

How are you doing these days?
Thank you :) I'm good, keeping quite busy. Should approach a bit of a calmer period during the summer.

    How are you?

    :e4e:
Oh, if only my will was done so easily in every other way besides... :chuckle:

But thank you! So glad you did. And no rush on the PM, I was basically thinking out loud - sometimes that works, and sometimes it doesn't.
Will get right on it. :)

And no I haven't, but thanks for the recommendation, I'm always looking for good movies to see. :)
OMG, this dang new format just completely ate my entire message. I just spent more than 1,000 characters answering you and when it wouldn't let me send it and I tried to go back, the whole thing disappeared. So aggravating.

    In short:

    1. I agree wholeheartedly with the article. Very impressed. It explains the perfect storm of this election, even if Trump loses.
    2. Civil War, Plessy v. Ferguson, Japanese-American internment camps, McCarthy, John Birch, Barry Goldwater, Phyllis Schlafly, Moral Majority, Prop. 8, Ted Cruz, Donald Trump... Phil Robertson and TOL.
    3. Please make a thread so this gets wider exposure. Better you than me, you know that.
    4. One funny thought that I'll say via PM. :chuckle:
    5. This is something that I've made a break from in the last few years... I was raised in this kind of thinking, and it's taken me all my life to this point to break free of it.
Part II, had to break it up:

Sounds like a great place, your GF's relatives'. Must have been lovely there, I'm glad you had a good time. :)

I'm doing pretty well, thanks. Kind of hitting peaceful place more often than not, which is a nice change of pace.

And yeah.... okay, not laughing at you, laughing with you... :chuckle: Smiling right now as I'm typing this, too.

And on the name, yeah - you'd like each other, I'm sure. :)
You may have heard Trump was in San Diego recently, and there was some crowd action and 35 arrests. My mom called to tell me what was going on and I said "Oh, thanks for telling me, if it's close enough I'll walk down and see what's happening," and she's freaking out saying no, she was calling me to tell me to stay away... :chuckle: and I saying, no, I won't get too close but she was NOT happy with me and it turned out it was too far to walk and I wasn't going to drive. So I missed out on the action, I knew he was coming and could have gone to the convention center but I knew it would be a circus. Remember when they used to say that Bill Clinton would suck the oxygen out of any room he was in? Trump is like that X10 and it's scary.
    1. Re: the Bing link: That was beautiful. :) I use Bing for two reasons: not Google, and for the photo of the day. I like when they animate them.
    2. Definitely think our whole election process needs reforming, sometimes it sees like we're nothing but an oligarchy playing dress up, pretending to be a democratic republic. Maybe we've always been that way, I don't know, my political history knowledge isn't as good as it should be. I myself don't think parties should be able to supersede the will of the voter - I can see more leeway in that regard for a legislator, but not the party, being driven as they are by deep money.
    3. Enjoyed the links, and reading both sides of the issue. I still think I come down on Bernie's side.
    4. I really don't want to see either Clinton or Trump win. Regardless of the outcome in November, I'm dreading the next four years. :plain:
    5. Hope you're enjoying your weekend getaway. :)
:chuckle: I have to admit I'm still :chuckle: when I see it in the thread...

Thanks for all those comments, I'll have to read through them a second (maybe third) time and look at the links before respond on the rest, but I enjoyed watching you think out loud. :)
:chuckle: It's okay, I started the whole thing. (Something I never, ever, ever do...)

Sorry I sent you on a wild goose change (I never, ever, ever do that either) but it was Salon. My apologies.

You may find her account interesting, let me know what you think.

I saw a Hillary/Bernie ticket being floated. That could cancel out the GOP - and - a crazy Democrat convention. Let me know what you think about that too. :)

And no, unless you'd like me to be posting from the county jail... :chuckle:
That's because I replaced it with the "whoops" comment. :chuckle: This is turning into "who's on first?"

From what I read, their anger was justified - they were hijacked by the Hillary-biased chairwoman, apparently, after decisively winning a voice vote and other grievances - but a first-hand account said she saw nothing out of hand. I think I read it at Huffington Post. There's a lot of pro-Hillary bias, from the Progressive Establishment.

Oh, good question, but too many rarities to choose. Bibles from the 13th. century, Egyptian papyrus, Buddhist engravings, an ancient Jewish Torah scroll. A small selection, but amazing to look at, nonetheless. :)
:chuckle: Which one? I quite enjoy the smokey single malts, I prefer them over the other types.

I'm well. Been busy with pentecost :)

I will try to get back to you on Jenson later this week.

    How are you?

    :e4e:
A visitor message. I'd posted it on your page by mistake. :chuckle:

I'm right with you, the dilemma of whether to not vote at all or vote for Bernie. I don't think he's as far left as conservatives make him out to be, more like a European kind of social democrat.

Right now I'm on the 9th floor of the San Diego Central Library. What a view. :) I've been looking at their rare books collection, it's amazing.
:chuckle: Glad you got a chuckle out of it.

I know what you're saying about Sanders, but don't you think if he's got a Congress to keep him in check and if he picks a good cabinet that some of your concerns might be mitigated? I'm strongly leaning to Bernie, and if I do vote for him it'll be the first time in my life I've voted Democrat.

And you can make however much you want out of a rep message. I'm sure I'll enjoy whatever it is you send. :)
:chuckle: That's funny. Obviously you shouldn't make any life-altering decisions based on an online quiz.

Thanks for the PM, will respond when I can. :)
