Were The Nazis Left Wing?

Well, obviously they weren't as anyone familiar with history already knows but for the sake of argument and for those that think they were, why? Is it simply because Hitler belonged to a party that had "Socialist" in its name? That's pretty feeble considering how much he's on record for deriding liberalism and democracy. Also, why would the "left" be consumed with killing people because of their ethnicity, race, sexual orientation and even those on the same side of the political spectrum? It's often liberals and moderates who embrace multiculturalism, diversity and tolerance and that does include people who are on the right as well but not the extreme far right. That's where the Nazis were at. That's why the "Unite The Right" rally had flags depicting swastikas...

So, for those that think that the Nazis were "liberals", please make your case, if you can.

I believe Clete's (or ffreeloader's) argument had to do with big government, government control of everything, and how that was more similar to modern liberalism than conservativism.

It really wasn't that hard to understand if you'd take the time to actually read what he wrote and consider it.

I'd expect you to understand basic logic better. Leftists are Bad. Nazis are bad. Therefore, Leftists are Nazis.

QED

Why don't you see if you can't appreciate the point Clete was making, instead of just mocking it?

Nazism, also known as National Socialism or Fascism is just about as far left as you can get. It isn't Marxist which is all about class envy and economic equality but it is very very collectivist. It was socially, economically and politically all about the German society subordinating their personal interests to the collective good (precisely how this shut down has been sold to the entire world, by the way!). Fascism, including Nazi style Fascism has almost nothing at all in common with the right, which is all about personal responsibility and individual freedom from any such collectivist kind of thinking. Fascism dictatorially insists on a strongly regimented and planned society that forcibly oppresses any form of descent. While the right or conservatism, on the other hand, is about private property rights, the rule of law and capitalism all of which Fascism is directly and definitively apposed to.

Huh?
Good old Wiki, eh?:-
Nazi Germany, and of other far-right groups with similar ideas and aims. Nazism is a form of fascism,[2][3][4][5] and showed that ideology's disdain for liberal democracy and the parliamentary system, but also incorporated fervent antisemitism, anti-communism, scientific racism, and eugenics into its creed. Its extreme nationalism came from Pan-Germanism and the ethno-nationalist völkisch movement prominent in the German nationalism of the time, and it was strongly influenced by the Freikorps paramilitary groups that emerged after Germany's defeat in World War I, from which came the party's underlying "cult of violence".[6] Nazism subscribed to pseudo-scientific theories of racial hierarchy[7] and Social Darwinism, identifying the Germans as a part of what the Nazis regarded as an Aryan or Nordic master race.[8]

According to The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Politics, .................................. Right-wing parties include conservatives, Christian democrats, classical liberals, nationalists; and on the far-right, fascists.

No need to say more..... :)

Hitler derided liberalism and democracy. If all you can "add" to the thread is "Louder with Crowder" videos then please don't bother "responding" further. Otherwise, please answer on point on why the Nazis, if they were left wing and liberal had no compunction in killing their own. How many times do you see people on the 'left' going as far as to advocate the "execution" of people for being gay, or even so far as to nuke Mecca as some have done on here? That's the far right and just to be clear, that isn't conservatism by any stretch but just the far right.

Get a grip and get an education while you're at it.

Absolutely, fascism is far right or far out as there's nothing actually right about it. The only people who I've encountered who want a regime where everyone is subjugated are the ones who are on the far religious "right" or dingbat neo Nazi white supremacist outfits.

Can you describe all those elements of conservatism that facists embrace?

Begin with those Clete enumerated, small government and individual liberty free from governmental interference.

Yep....... how to brainwash nutters.......... just keep feeding them with this rubbish and one morning they'll wake up spouting it.
The subject of 'imprinting' is very interesting. Up can be manipulated in to Down, Right to Left...... etc.....
Religious extremism is already imprinted........ which can lead to religious terrorism..... we've had our fair share of that, I think.

Clete's ideas? Why would I take any notice of a politically extreme person who would, for example, trample the female vote? Jack Boots ahoy!

Here it is again.......

You need to be fed with small bite-size chunks of info, ok doser. That way you might just get the message.

Start by addressing small government and individual liberty free from governmental interference.
