So racism started because of fatherless families?!

The problems of the black community since 1965 were started by fatherless families. Racism stopped being the primary cause at that point. In fact, racism is probably less than 1% of the cause of black problems today.

So racism is not a problem for blacks this day and age?

It is a problem in so far as they let it be a problem. They can accomplish anything despite racism. And if they are indeed harmed by real racism, they will likely be rich for life by sueing in court. You cannot call killing by cop to be a victim of racism either if you do not respect a police officer. For those who do follow the rules and are unfairly targeted by police, then the blame is on the crime ridden neighborhood they live in 99 times more than the cop.

Racism is not dependent upon contextual setting. If it is dependent, then you have something other than true racism.

i used to get called "ni66er" by the kids - four or five times a day :chuckle:

The indigenous people have little love for white America as well.

indigenous enslavement was more widely practiced by the french colonists in what became canada

but it's worth noting that the southern tribes , when displaced by jackson, took along their black slaves on the trail of tears

Was the selling of whites as large scaled as minorities.

not sure why that matters

if you're interested in making this primarily a discussion about slavery, can we agree to exclude those blacks/whites/indigenous who have never been slaves?

So, contemporary racism is the minority's own fault...history has nothing to do with it?

I would have to look at it case by case. It's not blacks fault either. It is fatherless families and taught fear and hatred of whites from an early age and ingrained victimhood taught in class, home and especially the media.

White Lives Matter

The American Revolution was based on grievances that pale in comparison to the treatment African Americans have received for the past 400 years.

If you want people to respect the law, they need to feel that they are not being relegated to 2nd class citizens.

By 2050, visible minorities will constitute the majority of America's citizens and it will be telling as to just how far the "white" minority is prepared to go to retain the reigns of power!

Were whites treated as only one-half a person under the law; made to sit on the back of the bus...etc. Such has brought us to the point we are at....do you actually deny blacks a reason for bitterness and resentment?

His argument is one huge fail. Just because the people you use the word around have a different meaning for it than the reason whites used it for in the past still does not make its usage right.

It would help if when you rejected his argument you first evidenced an understanding of it, because he put a point on it and the one you just made wasn't it.

His illustration of the point was classic. He can put his arm around his sweetheart and call her honey and everyone understands it's fine (if she's okay with it) because of their relationship. But if you walk over and do it then it isn't and for the same reason.

Besides, as a bystander, I can still see the word being used by blacks to celebrate "gangster" character in the person they are addressing.
And there's an argument in the community about its use within that community. But you're still not a part of it or entitled to it.

They tend to be a touch thick about this concept. I've yet to discern whether it's feigned ignorance...or rather they come about it naturally.
