What the Gospel is and What the Gospel is Not

The Gospel is NOT anything that we do or can experience.
The Gospel is NOT that we have been born again.
The Gospel is NOT that we have been predestinated.
The Gospel is NOT about keeping the Commandments.
The Gospel is NOT about belonging to a church.
The Gospel is NOT about taking the sacraments.
The Gospel is NOT about accepting Jesus as your savior.
The Gospel is NOT that we have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Some of the above may be good news, but none of the above is the Gospel. My sole purpose on this Forum is to teach the "Historical Gospel" of Jesus Christ and all that it calls into question. Having studied this Gospel for over 45 years and 20 years with some prominent Christian scholars, I am more than qualified to tell you what the Gospel is and what the Gospel is not.

The Gospel concerns Jesus Christ, his life, his death and his resurrection. We had no part in this Gospel. We are simply spectators watching this Gospel unfold in the pages of the Bible. We are the benefactors of the Gospel. All that Jesus Christ is and all that he has done is for our justification. No one will enter heaven that has not been justified by the doing and the dying of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel is best understood in the light of the Old Testament. In the Old Testament as well as the New Testament man is a hopeless fallen sinner, Romans 3:10. He is born a sinner, lives out his life as a sinner and dies as a sinner. The question arises, how then can sinful man be saved and reconciled unto God? If you listen to the Catholic church, they will tell you that fallen man can be rehabilitated through the works of the law. This does not seem to be working. If sinful man can be rehabilitated through works or religion, then Jesus died in vain.

While Jesus was dying on the cross God tore the veil that covered the "Holy of Holies" from the top to the bottom, Matthew 27:51. This signified the end of the Old Covenant, the law and the Jewish religion. A whole new era was taking place. People were no longer required to live according to rules, laws or religion. This is why Paul wrote, "The JUST Shall Live By Faith" Romans 1:17. and not by rules laws or religion. If we are to believe Paul we will have to believe that people are justified by faith apart from the works of the law. To be justified by faith means that we are justified by Christ. Faith cannot justify. The purpose of faith is to make the Gospel ours.

In the Gospel, Jesus puts to death the whole old Adamic race in himself, Romans 6:6. This is why Paul said, "I have been crucified with Christ" Galatians 2:20. When Jesus died on the cross we died with him. This was the end of sin, death and the devil. The scripture says, "The soul that sins shall die" Jesus took our death for us. "For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" 2 Corinthians 5:21. As far as God is concerned sin has been abolished. God sees all things in his Son Jesus Christ. In the judgment you will either be found "In Christ" who has abolished sin, or you will be found in your sins. The big question is do you believe that your sins have been dealt with in Jesus Christ?

Jesus has done it all and he did it perfectly. The law has been fulfilled and abolished, Ephesians 2:15. Sin, death and the devil have been abolished. Because of the doing and the dying of Jesus we can now stand before God in the judgment as perfect and complete "In Christ" Colossians 2:10. Our guarantee that we have been justified by the doing and the dying of Jesus is that Jesus was accepted back into heaven. God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ, Acts 2:36. Jesus sitting at the right hand of God, which is a place of honor and respect is our guarantee that we have been accepted in him, Hebrews 1:3.

This is the Gospel that justifies the ungodly, Romans 4:5 and reconciles us and the world unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19. To believe and embrace this Gospel as your only means of salvation is to enter into his rest, "For he that has entered into his rest, he also has ceased from his own works (religion) as God did from his" Hebrews 4:10.

Who is denying his crucifixion?

You said, "To believe and embrace this Gospel as your only means of salvation is to enter into his rest..."

That seems to imply that he is resting, which is simply not true.

Jesus was on the cross for six hours, an hour for each day. His work of salvation is not yet finished.

The work of salvation that was done on behalf of fallen man is finished.

You deny the Gospel, you teach that sinners Christ died for are still lost!

Shalom.

I do not know when the veil tore, but it did not signify that the Law was abolished, as far as I can tell, which would be different from your claim.

Shalom.

8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began
