did Jesus build his Church on something Physical, Spiritual or Sapient?

also begs the question, is Jesus' Church Physical, Spiritual or Sapient?

good question
building a church on a rock suggests a foundation or a cornerstone
and
a cornerstone is used to locate the position of the building
so
my first guess or suspicion
is
that it is a location
